Age is just a number...at least according to your senior horse. 🐴💪

Whether they're still competing, trail riding or keeping everyone at the barn on their toes, they deserve nutrition designed specifically for their changing needs.

That's why we carefully crafted Ultium® Senior — to help support horses who still have plenty of miles left to go.

👃 Did you know?

🤧 While many horse owners are familiar with heaves (also called recurrent airway obstruction, or RAO), they may not realize that similar respiratory signs can occur seasonally. RAO is often triggered by indoor hay dust and typically improves with turnout.

🌤️ In contrast, some horses worsen on pasture, especially during the warmer, humid months. In these cases, removing the horse from the pasture environment and moving them to indoor stabling can actually relieve symptoms.

🌾 This pasture-related condition has had several names over the years, including summer pasture-associated obstructive pulmonary disease (SPAOPD) and pasture-associated heaves. More recently, veterinarians have adopted the term Equine Pasture Asthma (EPA), which more accurately reflects its environmental triggers and similarity to human asthma.

⚠️ 14 Early Warning Signs of Laminitis in Horses

🐴 Laminitis often starts before obvious lameness appears. Subtle changes such as hoof wall distortion, hoof rings, a stretched white line, loss of sole concavity, and recurrent abscesses may be early warning signs.

🍬 Most laminitis cases are linked to metabolic issues. More than 90% of horses that develop laminitis are believed to have an underlying endocrine disorder, such as Equine Metabolic Syndrome (EMS) or PPID (Cushing's Disease), resulting in elevated insulin levels.

👊 Early intervention can make a difference. Monitoring hoof health, working with your veterinarian and farrier, and managing starch and sugar intake can help address risk factors before laminitis becomes severe.
