It’s been while so I thought I’d introduce myself!

Hi, I’m Erin!

I’m married to my high school sweet heart and we have 3 beautiful children. We live on our family farm, outside of Rimbey, Alberta where we have a small cattle herd, a couple horses, chickens, bunnies, butcher pigs, a dog and a couple cats.

I’ve grown up on the farm and was the daughter of a vet, which has led to a deep love for animals, a good understanding of how connected we are to our animals and the reason why I chose to start West of The Fifth Pet Cremations.

I am dedicated to serving the small communities of central Alberta. You can find comfort and ease knowing that I will take care of your pets as I would my own. I want to ensure that the next stage of their life is met with honour and compassion. 🐾❤️

My job is a tough one, but it’s also the best. Makes my heart happy knowing I’m helping people feel comfortable with sending there fur babies for cremation and relief knowing their pet will be treated with kindness and respect. We understand that your pets are apart of your family and losing them can be heartbreaking. All private cremations come with a plain black plastic urn, but we do offer other a variety of other options. We also offer ink and clay paw prints upon request. If you have any other ideas, you might like to have done with your pets please ask and we will try and accommodate you best we can. We can pick up your pet from your home or veterinary clinic and deliver ashes back as well, for a small mileage fee. JUST A DOG

From time to time, people tell me, “lighten up, it’s just a dog,”
or “that’s a lot of money for just a dog.”

They don’t understand the distance travelled, the time spent,
or the costs involved for “just a dog.”

Some of my proudest moments have come about with “just a dog.”

Many hours have passed and my only company was “just a dog,”
but I did not once feel slighted.

Some of my saddest moments have been brought about by
“just a dog,” and in those days of darkness, the gentle touch of “just a dog” gave me comfort and reason to overcome the day.

If you, too, think it’s “just a dog,” then you probably understand phrases like “just a friend,” “just a sunrise,” or “just a promise.”

“Just a dog” brings into my life the very essence of friendship, trust, and pure unbridled joy.

“Just a dog” brings out the compassion and patience that make me a better person.

Because of “just a dog” I will rise early, take long walks and look longingly to the future.

So for me and folks like me, it’s not “just a dog” but an embodiment of all the hopes and dreams of the future, the fond memories of the past, and the pure joy of the moment.

“Just a dog” brings out what’s good in me and diverts my thoughts away from myself and the worries of the day.

I hope that someday they can understand that its’ not “just a dog” but the thing that gives me humanity and keeps me from being
“just a man” or “just a woman.”

So the next time you hear the phrase “just a dog,” just smile, because they “just don’t understand.”
