Hot weather can pose serious risks to our pets, and knowing how to keep them safe is more important than ever.

We’re proud to share that our very own Dr. Maguire was featured on CTV Your Morning Atlantic Pet Talk segment, discussing hot weather safety tips for pets and what owners should watch for during the warmer months.

Something exciting is in the works at PetFocus Veterinary Hospital Bedford South! 🐾

We are currently planning a special community event this pride month and are looking to connect with local pet businesses, pet professionals, and animal-focused organizations who may be interested in participating.

Our vision is to create a welcoming event that celebrates the incredible bond between people and their pets while showcasing the amazing pet community we have here in HRM.

Whether you’re a groomer, trainer, pet photographer, pet sitter, pet store, rescue organization, or another pet-focused business, we’d love to hear from you!

Happy World Blood Donor Day! ❤️🐾

Today, our Practice Manager, Candice (and our assistant manager Evie) , spent the day volunteering at the Canadian Animal Blood Bank’s 30th Anniversary Celebration, helping capture the special moments, incredible donor dogs, and dedicated people who make this lifesaving program possible.

As veterinary professionals, we know how important blood donations can be for pets facing emergencies, surgeries, and critical illnesses. We’re proud to support and celebrate the donor pets, their families, and the organizations that help ensure blood is available when it is needed most.

Congratulations to the Canadian Animal Blood Bank on 30 years of making a difference in the lives of pets across Canada!

Meet Callie. 🐾💕

This sweet little kitten came in to see us recently, and it’s safe to say she was the highlight of our day. From her tiny paws to her curious personality, Callie had our team completely smitten.

We love watching our youngest patients grow and helping them get started on a lifetime of happy, healthy adventures. Thank you, Callie, for bringing so much cuteness to the hospital! 🧡

Kaia’s first visit with us wasn’t exactly the way anyone would have planned it.

After suffering a painful paw pad laceration, this sweet girl needed sedation and sutures to help get her back on the road to recovery. While she was understandably nervous, she never stopped being gentle, loving, and brave throughout her visit.

One thing that touched our hearts was learning that Kaia’s mom plays healing frequency music to help keep her calm and comfortable. We made sure to play her special music during her procedure, and it was such a beautiful reminder that every patient is unique and that sometimes the little things can make all the difference.

From extra cuddles and reassurance to a cute bandage to wear home, our team was so happy to help care for this special girl. Thank you to Kaia’s family for trusting us with her care.❤️🐾

When you’re the staff pet and your coworkers have absolutely no intention of letting you recover from sedation in peace. 🪩✨🌈

Luna came in for a procedure and woke up to an impromptu disco party courtesy of the veterinary team.

Thankfully she recovered beautifully. Her dignity, on the other hand, may still be in recovery. 😹

Koda and Zoro stopped by for their annual exams and vaccines, and they definitely brightened our day! 🐾

These handsome brothers are members of the amazing , and it’s always a pleasure seeing them at the hospital. Whether they’re out on the trails or visiting us for their wellness care, they bring plenty of personality, energy, and smiles wherever they go.

When your patient brings their own dance moves to the appointment. 💃🕺

This little ear mite may look like it’s busting a move under the microscope, but these tiny parasites can cause significant irritation, itchiness, inflammation, and ear infections in our furry friends.

If your pet is shaking their head, scratching their ears, or has dark debris in their ears, it may be worth having them checked by your veterinary team.

Evie and Maddie, our incredible staff pets and biological sisters, donated blood through the during the clinic we hosted today. These girls are universal donors, which is especially rare in golden retrievers, and their donation could help save multiple pets facing emergencies, surgeries, trauma, or critical illness.

Right now, there is a desperate need for animal blood donors in our community. Blood products save lives every single day, but they can only exist because of amazing pets and owners willing to step up.

We are so unbelievably proud of these two girls for doing something so small that creates such a massive impact. Tiny capes. Huge heroes.
