Hello Spring!
With the nice weather again it’s a great time to start getting bones outside again. Bones not only provide a great dental cleaning but chewing is a great enrichment and decompression activity for your dogs. We have a variety of recreational and meaty (meal replacement) bones to choose from in various sizes and proteins. If just starting out we recommend choosing a bone large enough your dog is unable to swallow it. Ask our staff about choosing appropriate bones for your dogs.

Our hearts are still with the families and all of Nova Scotia grieving the loss of 22 lives on this fateful morning 5 years ago. 💙🤍💙

They’re backkkkkk 😭
Ticks are out in full force and finding them is inevitable.
But here is how we can keep our pets as safe as possible WITHOUT those deadly chemicals! 🧪☠️

🌱First is a great all natural Hiking Spray! (available at HM and Jollytails) has been trusted in the Nova Scotia dog community for almost a decade and has evolved over the years to adapt to the ever growing tick population.

🗓️Second is DAILY tick checks - focusing on the face and neck areas. Flea combs and sticky rollers are a great help!

💪Thirdly is keeping that immune system STRONG with healthy food, minimal chemical stress to the body, and immune boosters like our colostrum, Vital Defence (available at HM) or Bor-L Immune available at our friends

⚕️Last but certainly not least: Regular testing at your veterinarian.
Snap tests for tick borne illnesses are inexpensive and could be life saving, we recommend at the end of spring and fall. Yearly blood and urine tests are also a great way to find abnormalities and to keep a baseline for changes.
Remember if there are any behaviour changes, to consider these tests at any time of year.
When caught early, these tick borne illnesses we have here are most often treatable by antibiotic or remedy of your choice.
