🦷February is Pet Dental Health Awareness Month! 🦷
(Featuring this cute face for attention — thanks to Dr. Sandhu’s pup! 🐶)
Dental disease likes to hide below the gumline — sneaky, right?
- Plaque starts forming within hours
- Tartar can show up in as little as 24 hours
- Over time, this can mean sore gums, tooth trouble, and discomfort.
Daily brushing can make a big difference:
1) Focus on the outside of the teeth initially
2) Take it slow and keep it positive. Consistency is key.
3) Incorporating treats, foods, toys etc may help reduce plaque and/or calculus buildup. We recommend visiting the Veterinary Oral Health Council for researched products. (vohc.org)
3) Have your vet check their mouth first to be sure it’s free of pain and discomfort.
At-home care is great for maintenance, but it doesn’t replace professional examination/cleanings.
✨ Just a few minutes a day helps keep those tails wagging and whiskers smiling!
