I haven’t wrote a post in awhile being plum full with a wait list but with all of that I’m noticing somethings I’d like to clarify with consigment especially! Health stuff falls into the training category as well.
Before I start I’d like to say! Thank you, thank you, thank you! To my continued clients & the ones who understand what I’m about to explain. I have rode some incredible horses in the last 5 years on this journey and I wouldn’t have it any other way! My connections have grown, my business has grown, my knowledge has grown and my heart is full! THIS IS ALL THANKS TO YOU TRUSTING ME! Without you I wouldn’t be here & it’s been such a great ride so far! If you want a laugh & to learn some of my largest pet peeves you’ll read on a good dry sense of humour is needed but do take from this I love all horses and I want the best for them and the homes they find!
I’m learning more with how my business is growing you don’t have to take EVERYTHING and make a perfect ending for everyone. That being said…. If it bucked you off for no good reason (bee sting, sore back, poor health, a cow ran it over or a tent blew over its head) we don’t want it. I’m not saying I don’t love solving a good problem but we have to many nice ones to ride daily and I enjoy running my own not crippled same with my help!
If they don’t look a great weight feed them till they do or call the vet. If I have to feed your horse quality hay for 2 weeks to get it healthy enough to market without seeing the nightmare comment “sure looks like it could use some groceries” it’s not worth it your wasting your money, my pen & time.
Horses sell faster UTD I know big surprise…
If you want top dollar for your horse put top dollar care in… I can book teeth, feet & vaccinations hell I’ll buy a wormer for you if needed but again your wasting time the horse can be on the market waiting for those things.. you dont ask top dollar for your car if you hit the brakes and it rolls down the hill.
Value your consigner ive been lucky through attempting to master the selling market of horses many folks ask me for a competitive price opinion but to the ones who think fluffy still running around with a snaffle in their mouth at 11 years old with no back up, woah and can’t load in a trailer are worth 15k cause their mothers grand dads cousins sister on the papers was doc o lena and there grandson rode it ba****ck at a family barbeque once isn’t realistic folks. The market is still high, horses are still a luxury, the wealthy and middle class are still smart enough to pay for what a horse is worth and the training it has had.
Lastly not all new bought homes want a weekly relationship with a previous owner… this one has happened twice in my program and there was definitely some heat from the seller… I can wait and find you the perfect buy sell relationship of course but I can also guarantee just because a buyer doesn’t want to send you a picture of every time sparkles has a nap doesn’t mean they aren’t a good home! Generally I’m very lucky everyone is very inviting and inclusive during sales and doesn’t mind sending a few yearly updates but don’t bash a person who spends less time on their phone and more time with the horse you once loved ♥️
That’s my Ted talk! I’ve been so lucky the last year selling horses and enjoying this so much! Everyone buyer or seller I’ve met have been incredible and understanding! I can’t wait to see what the future holds with some higher dollar horses in these next few months and great clients trusting our process!
