This pretty little black mare is available on behalf of family. I’ve known her since she was born, and while she got a late start under saddle, she has shown us nothing but a willing, kind attitude.
She has lived a quiet life and spent most of her years being a horse. Because of that, she is still green for her age and is being sold as a project horse.
Recently, after having very little riding done over the years, I saddled her up and put three rides on her. She handled the time off exceptionally well and never offered any buck, rear, bolt, or silly behavior. She has also pulled a small sleigh in the winter and took to it very well.
She is best described as a mare that likes to know her person. She may be a little reserved at first, but with a gentle, patient hand she warms up nicely and tries hard to do the right thing. She is intelligent, retains what she learns, and has the kind of mind that makes me believe she has a bright future ahead of her.
She has been ridden in both a halter and a snaffle bit and is soft and responsive. Good for the farrier, recently trimmed and dewormed, and has good solid feet.
This mare is not suitable for a beginner today simply because of her lack of mileage, but she is quiet in nature and has never given us a reason to be concerned. I think she would make a fantastic project for a handy youth, small adult, ranch pony, trail partner, or all-around family horse with continued riding.
At this time I do not have riding videos available. Due to her green status, I am not offering trial rides. Serious buyers are welcome to arrange a viewing where either myself or another experienced horseman can demonstrate everything she currently knows, including saddling, handling, and riding.
