Proud trainer/coach moment today! ❤️ One of my students had a lesson on my 2024 TB Makeover Graduate and Long Run Graduate, Delawana Princess. Dela is a very different style of ride than Lauren's own horse (2024 TB Makeover Graduate Mr.Nobility) but she got the feel for her quickly and had a great ride! It's always so rewarding watching someone else have a good ride on a young horse that you trained yourself! 🥰

223 days down, approx 117 days to go! Around this time during her last pregnancy, she would start sleeping like this with her face smooshed into the bedding. She also whinnies and nickers in her sleep - I think she's talking to her baby. 🩷 Tamarkuz x Talize (Giant Gizmo) 🩷

It's Makeover Week!! ❤️

Missing out on the Makeover is definitely a bit more emotional as schooling for the class of 2025 is underway for competitors in Lexington, Kentucky today! Serious FOMO kicking in! 😅

I've decided to share some of my past Makeover grads and favourite Makeover memories this week to help promote the Retired Racehorse Project and the Makeover!

2019 was the first year I entered for the Makeover with Hemmin and Hawin! Hemi was originally supposed to be a quick flip for me when I purchased him in the summer of 2018, but he had some behavioural issues that led to me keeping him and deciding to enter the Makeover! He was also up for sale at the Makeover, but we decided to keep him to develop as we had retired my Show Jumper in September and Hemi showed a lot of promise. He finished up 13th in Show Jumping despite a few rails. It was 47C with humidity and he was so tired, but he still gave me everything he had - like any great Thoroughbred will do! ❤️

Sadly, he was euthanized in January 2022 due to neck issues that were causing him a lot of pain and discomfort. He will always be remembered as the horse that changed the course of my Professional career for the better! ❤️

We feel like we've really gotten to known Sam Fawcett of Meraki Equestrian over this season of Make the Makeover, and we love her resilience in the face of seemingly non-stop challenges. Her advice on the mental aspect of riding, both in prep for the Makeover and in the wider equestrian world, is a must-listen from our most recent episode 159.

A great Thoroughbred! ❤️

A great Thoroughbred! ❤️

Growing up, the brilliant gray Thoroughbred show jumper Gem Twist was my idol. 🐎✨

Maybe it was the name, maybe his sparkling white coat, or maybe just the way he soared so effortlessly over the fences—but he was the horse I always remembered.

A three-time Horse of the Year and Olympic silver medalist, Gem Twist was a legend with a list of accomplishments that still takes my breath away. But more than that, he captured hearts and inspired dreams—mine included. 💙

Since his passing in 2006, his legacy has lived on through cloning:
✨ Gemini Twist (2008), preserved for breeding by Frank & Mary Chapot
✨ Murka’s Gem (2011), continuing the tradition in competition with Team Murka

Legends never really leave us—they keep soaring, generation after generation.
