The puppies are now playing outside and experiencing different materials underfoot, like grass, gravel, and dirt. They are also learning to do their business on the grass.

It was a hot day, so the perfect opportunity to let the puppies try going in the pool for the first time. Some of them were a little unsure of the experience, but mom showed them how it's done!

I have started adding a "novelty item" each day into the pen for the puppies to explore. This exposure activity allows them to be curious and to try engaging with something they've never seen before. Yesterday was a small box. Today was a sock roll. You can really start to see the individual personalities of the puppies - who is more curious, or more playful, or more cautious.
The puppy pen has now had a second area added. The puppies instinctively don't like to potty where they sleep, so they will eventually learn to use the back pen to do their business and will keep the front clean for sleeping.
