Timing Bodywork for Peak Performance
When is the best time for bodywork around show days?
Planning your horse’s bodywork sessions strategically can make a world of difference in their comfort and performance. Here's a guide to help:
✨ Before the Show (48-72 hours before):
A bodywork session a few days before the event helps loosen muscles, improve circulation, and optimize range of motion. This ensures your horse feels relaxed and ready to perform. Avoid scheduling too close to the event, as some horses may need a bit of downtime to fully adjust to the benefits.
✨ During the Show:
If your horse is competing across multiple days, consider shorter, targeted sessions between rides. These sessions focus on addressing specific areas of tension that may develop during the competition, keeping your horse feeling fresh and focused.
✨ After the Show (24-48 hours Post-Event):
A recovery session after a big competition supports muscle recovery, reduces soreness, and aids in overall relaxation. It’s a great way to thank your horse for their hard work while preparing them for their next challenge.
Remember: Every horse is unique. Work with your equine bodywork professional to create a plan tailored to your horse’s needs and schedule.
Your horse’s well-being is the foundation of their performance—plan with care!
