Here we are end of day 1. It started out great, but things can change so fast….this is quite the story !!!!!!!puppies were coming every 30 mins or so which was perfect, then delivery stopped and we had two heartbreaking stillborns.. we knew there was more in there yet , so we rushed to the vet in the late evening , hoping to save the last 3 babies . After X-rays and checking heartbeats we were informed 2 were already passed 😢😢and the other was in distress and heartbeat was dropping and wouldn’t prob survive delivery. Heartbreaking. This was nearly half of the litter . So we gave medication to bring on contractions and a still born little boy was delivered, just about in tears already at this point …and so we set off home and Georgia had another baby in the vehicle , it was lifeless and still. Yet another . So we laid it with its sibling in a box , taking home to bury , and miraculously, after 15 minutes of driving home we heard this wail come from the box, we were stunned, so my daughters in the back of thecar hurriedly got it out and started to warm it up as it was so cold, body contact. When we got home we worked to get puppy moving and we saw we had another little girl, what a little fighter she is, she is now as fiesty and healthy as her siblings , what a turn around of a really sad evening. I’m so glad she survived, she might have to stay with us 😜😜.

We’ve been keeping it under the radar till we knew more , looks like we’re going to be having our Georgia babies soon. Georgia went in for a vet check last week and we definitely have quite a few babies in there. As far as I know they are all reserved, unless one or more extra little ones make the great journey of birth safely .. we are def going to be a busy household here soon, especailly with the excitement of sweet Abby coming home in another week .. Georgia is in early stages of labour.. in bernese language it could be another 2 or 3 days ..

Life is so much richer with a Berner

I couldn't imagine not having a dog in my life, and we have had a few breeds, but the Bernese Mountain dog top them all. Why, they are funny, loyal, totally in love and connected with their family, smart, playful, did i mention loving, love to travel in vehicles, swim, play with kids large and small, love to hang out with you wherever you are, dont need a whole ton of energetic exercise, but love to go for long hikes with you, they are obedient, slightly stubborn but very easy to train, they do dig a few holes when bored, but thats a minor compared to everything they give back.
