Jamal the camel and Yoshi the donkey might not be the duo you expected—but they are the duo you didn’t know you needed. These two are inseparable: chasing each other through the fields, sharing snacks (sometimes stealing snacks), and always bringing out the best in one another.
If Jamal’s feeling grumpy, Yoshi’s got jokes. If Yoshi’s having a stubborn day, Jamal’s got his back (literally—he’s huge). They’re quirky, chaotic, and completely co-dependent in the most heartwarming way.
So here’s your midweek reminder: find your weird match, laugh a little louder, and never underestimate the power of a good buddy.
Happy Hump Day from Jamal & Yoshi—the original odd couple ✨

You wanna know what makes this friendship so special? Neither one minds when the other protests—and neither puts up too much of a fight, either.
Farmer Sawyer and his chickens have a quiet understanding: he picks them up whenever he wants… and they let him. It’s the kind of bond that only grows between a little farmer and his feathered sidekicks.
Soft clucks, gentle hands, and a whole lot of trust!

If you were at yoga this weekend, thank you! Together we stretched, breathed, and found our zen zone—surrounded by the gentle presence of our alpacas grazing between the mats. It was peaceful, grounding, and honestly… pretty magical.
We’re hoping to bring it back in July and August—would you be interested in joining us for another round of Yoga with the Alpacas?
If you missed this session and felt a bit of FOMO, let us know! We’re planning future sessions and want to keep you in the loop.
And—if you’ve got a special skill or class you’d love to teach alongside the animals on our farm, we’d love to hear from you. There’s something so unique about sharing experiences in this setting. Let’s connect ✨

This crew may have been shorn in May, but they’re still strutting into Monday like the fresh-faced farm royalty they are.
Clean cuts, high heads, and absolutely no tolerance for nonsense—just the kind of energy we all need to kick off the week.
Start your Monday with a little swagger and a lot of purpose.
The herd says: let’s do this ✨

What every parent truly wants is a day out with their family — and today, we’re celebrating all the incredible dads who lead with love, strength, and heart.
All fathers receive free admission to the farm today, so bring the whole crew and make some unforgettable memories together.
We’re also taking a moment to recognize the strong, kind, and capable men who work and volunteer here on the farm. Whether they’re wrangling animals, fixing fences, or guiding tours, they show up every day with a spirit of generosity and care. They’re true role models for the young farmers growing up in our community — and we’re so lucky to have them.
Here’s to the dads, the father figures, and all the men who make a difference. We see you, we thank you, and we’re celebrating you today!

Say hello (again) to Tim the Tool Man Turkey — our resident turkey with the most expressive face on the farm ✨
If you’ve seen Tim strutting around, you may have noticed something pretty amazing: his head changes color! That’s not a trick of the light — it’s all part of turkey body language. A turkey’s head can shift from red to blue to white depending on their mood. When Tim is calm, his head is often a pale blue or white. When he’s excited, showing off, or feeling territorial, it turns bright red. It’s like nature’s own mood ring!
So why are turkeys the best?
• They’re incredibly social and curious animals — Tim loves to follow guests around the farm and inspect their boots.
• They’re also surprisingly smart — Tim knows the feeding routine better than some of our staff.
• And best of all? They’re full of personality. With his goofy strut, raspy gobble, and flair for dramatic head color changes, Tim always keeps things interesting.
Come say hi to Tim the Tool Man next time you visit — just don’t be surprised if he gives you the side-eye and changes colors on the spot!

Happy Friday from Jamal the Camel ✨
We’re waking up to a mostly cloudy morning with just a peek of sunshine — but don’t worry, the farm’s still shining bright with energy and excitement!
Today we’ve got information sessions at 12:15, 1:30, 2:45, and 4:00 — come say hi, learn something new, and catch our alpacas snacking on their favourite treat ✨
And tonight is the big one — TRIVIA NIGHT! We’re officially sold out and we couldn’t be more excited. It’s going to be a beautiful evening of laughs, learning, and community connection.
Any day we get to open the gates and share the farm with you is a good one — can’t wait to see you out here

Sending love from Ozzie and Glove!
Our two farm kitties are full of personality — rambunctious, playful, and endlessly friendly. They get along with everyone: alpacas, chickens, and even the odd visitor or two. They might not win any awards for hunting, but they’re top-tier greeters, and we wouldn’t trade them for the world. Life on the farm just wouldn’t be the same without these two ✨

Did you know that proceeds from our tours, general admission, and alpaca walks support , a children’s charity working to break the cycle of poverty in Peru? Giving back is part of who we are — and for the months of May and June, we’re extending that generosity to our local community.
No one deserves to go hungry.
In lieu of general admission, we invite guests to bring two or more non-perishable food items for the local food bank.
Just check in at the store, drop off your donation, and enjoy your visit — whether you’re here for an alpaca walk, to meet the animals, or simply enjoy the farm ✨
Information sessions run throughout the day, so be sure to check in when you arrive to catch the next one.
Small acts make a big difference — thank you for helping us support both local and global communities!

We used to trim our willow trees every few months during the summer, but with Jamal on duty, that’s no longer necessary! He loves snacking on the willow branches — they’re his favorite tasty treat. Nature’s way of taking care of the trees for us ✨

Catherine Simpson established Kensington Prairie Farm in 2000 on five acres of land in Surrey, BC in an area historically known as Kensington Prairie County. Home to 12 alpacas, the farm quickly grew to 30+ animals and in 2006, Kensington Prairie Farm relocated to Langley, BC and expanded its operations from 5 to 45 acres.
Kensington Prairie Farm is now a diversified farming operation. In addition to breeding, raising and showing Huacaya alpacas, we also market and sell a variety of high-quality Canadian made and imported alpaca products from our on-farm Boutique and online store (please see www.kensingtonprairie.ca). Kensington Prairie Farm also raises registered Polled Hereford cattle and produces artisanal honey. KPFarm Custom Agricultural Services produces high quality hay and silage and offers custom forage production services to area farmers. Naturally raised, hormone free beef and alpaca meat is also available for sale through the on-farm boutique.
Kensington Prairie Farm is a member of the Canadian Llama and Alpaca Association (CLAA), Alpaca Canada (AC), Fraser Valley Llama & Alpaca Association (FVLAC), BC Llama & Alpaca Association (BCLAA) and Alpaca Registry Inc. (ARI). We are also members of the Canadian Cattlemen’s Association, BC Cattlemen’s Association and West Coast Hereford Club.
Catherine represents the four provincial Farm Animal Care Councils (BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Ontario) on the National Farm Animal Care Council (NFACC) and currently sits on the NFACC Executive. She is also a board membr of the Fraser Valley Farm Direct Marketing Association, Fraser Valley Llama and Alpaca Club and West Coast Hereford Club.
Kensington Prairie Farm is an active member of several local marketing associations including Langley Circle Farm Tour (www.circlefarmtour.com), Fraser Valley Farm Direct Marketing Association (www.bcfarmfresh.com), and Shop Historic 248th Trail Group (www.shophistoricotter248thtrail.com).
Kensington Prairie Farm donates all proceeds from group farm tours to Quechua Benefit, a charity providing services to the poorest Quechua alpaca breeders in Peru. Quechua Benefit not only operates a Children’s Village near Chivy, Peru (Casa Chapi Children’s Village), but also conducts annual medical and dental missions to a largely forgotten people living in remote areas of the Peruvian highlands (www.quechuabenefit.org). When possible, Catherine volunteers for these annual missions in Peru.
