Feline urethral obstruction is a very common presentation for male neutered cats. This is still much discussion surrounding certain aspects of management such as type/size of urinary catheter, fluid therapy, when to recommend a perineal urethrostomy and use of alpha-adrenergic antagonist. Despite UO being a very common feline emergency, there are relatively few high-level clinical studies looking at various treatment aspects of this condition. Through presentation of a clinical case, the lecture aims to address these points of discussion with support of literature to help guide the discussion.
