Blast from the past - 2018 UKC Western Claasic with Teresa , Eri and Chelsea. We had Munchie, Mack and Sophie. I believe both Mack and Sophie earned their Grand Championships that weekend after only showing in a handful of shows. Chelsea had two of her own dogs there. I believe the Bulldogs managed to get a few Group 1 in a large Guardian Group and had group placements all weekend. Showing dogs isn’t just about winning a ribbon! It’s the friendships formed!

Korben’s Weekend Recap… and what a weekend it was. 🐾

Korben clearly showed up to the Prairie’s United Kennel Club show with one goal: collect ribbons like they were going out of style.

Rally:
• Finished his URO1 Friday with a 2nd place for his final Q
• 1st place with a PERFECT score in RL2 Saturday morning
• Added two 3rd places to finish his URL2 title
• Grabbed another RL2 Q and a 4th place Sunday afternoon to start the next title

Weight Pull:
• Most Weight Pulled & Pound for Pound winner in BOTH trials Friday (2048 lb pulls)
• Most Weight Pulled Saturday (1652 lbs)
• Most Weight Pulled again Sunday (1784 lbs)
• Finished his UWPCH Champion title Sunday night

Conformation:
• Best of Breed both shows Friday
• Best of Breed + Group 4 Sunday

To top it all off, the club’s Celebration of Excellence (combined points from all events over the weekend) awarded Korben 3rd overall, earning him yet another ribbon and prize.

Not bad for a dog who refuses to specialize and instead insists on doing all the sports… and winning in them.

So proud of this boy. 🐾🏆 Huge credit goes to Kayla Bell for all the hard work she puts into Korben.

Kayla is truly one in a million when it comes to bulldoggers — the kind of person you wish you could send ten dogs to without a second thought. Her dedication, skill, and love for the breed show in everything she does.

The American Bulldog breed is better off with someone like Kayla advocating for them. I’m incredibly grateful for the work she does with Korben and for being such a strong ambassador for the breed. 🐾

What an incredible weekend at the Prairies United Kennel Club show here in Canada!

This action-packed three-day event featured conformation, weight pull, and rally, and the American Bulldogs showed up ready to work… and maybe show off just a little. 😉

The turnout for the breed was fantastic. One judge even commented that “the American Bulldog has really improved as a breed,” along with several compliments about the outstanding temperaments seen in the ring all weekend. Music to any breeder’s ears!

Competition was fierce in the best possible way. The dogs went head-to-head all weekend, each taking their turn at Best of Breed — proof that the quality in the ring was top notch. And to top it off, there were several group placements in a very competitive guardian group ring. Not bad for a weekend’s work!

As if that wasn’t enough, the crew decided to try their paws at weight pull, where Kayla (our resident weight pull guru) generously stepped in to mentor everyone and share some helpful tips to get the dogs started toward their weight pull titles. Let’s just say some hidden talents may have been discovered!

The dogs also stepped into the rally ring, showing everyone that American Bulldogs are far more than just a pretty face. Strength, brains, and versatility — this breed really can do it all.

While there were plenty of exciting wins and new titles earned this weekend, one of the best parts was the teamwork and camaraderie among everyone involved. Experienced handlers supporting newcomers, people cheering each other on, and lots of shared learning along the way. If we want to continue improving the breed and preserving it for the future, this kind of collaboration is exactly what it takes.

Safe to say the American Bulldogs represented themselves very well this weekend — strong, stable, and maybe just a little bit competitive. Exactly how we like them. 😎

Excited for David and Melissa! They got a puppy named Cain from one of our Ollie and Princess breedings in 2013. I still remember driving to meet them in the middle of a snow storm, barely able to see the road. Sadly he passed away earlier this year. I was thrilled when they reached out that they were ready for a new addition. They picked up Dux from our Nova and Korben breeding. Korben’s pedigree goes back to Princess and Ollie which makes Dux a great great grand pup to Princess and Ollie. While Dux won’t replace Cain hopefully he will bring a piece of him back!
