When Chantelle moved from Victoria to Abbotsford in 2022, she was looking for a way to connect with her new community. Volunteering at the Archway Urban Farm was the perfect fit as it allowed her to give back while learning how to grow food using organic methods.

“I’ve learned the basics of how to grow food properly, identify plants, harvest at the right time, and do it all without chemicals," said Chantelle.

Over the past nine years the Archway Urban Farm has accomplished well beyond what they had envisioned for themselves in 2015.

In an effort to offer more opportunities to the community the farm joined forces with Kinghaven Treatment Center and Peardonville Recovery House to provide weekly volunteer opportunities at the farm. These weekly sessions allowed residents to develop valuable skills and connections that will support them throughout their recovery process.
