Matching grant opportunity!

We are so thankful to have received a grant from Horse Aid Canada to assist with the cost of having Shooter humanely euthanized.

We make these decisions weighing what is best for each horse and their well-being. Providing the Last Act of Kindness is always a difficult decision but we consider it an honour to be able to do right by them in their greatest time of need.

Please consider making a donation today to match those funds and lighten the financial burden for us.

This is a 6 year old POA who is looking for a new home. Here is what the owner has to say:

“She is a double registered, very loving, gentle and a very rideable smooth mover. She has great feet, currently barefoot, she bathes, trailers, lunges and gets along well with others. She is still green but has been on many trailrides, she’s started jumping and has buttons. She is a bright girl who has the odd spook but is brave when she knows you’re with her. Beautiful headline with kids but would recommend an intermediate rider.

Sadly she has been recently diagnosed with Uvetis which would be managed with steroid drops if she flares up and ideally an immunosuppressant drop as well. All vet records are accessible from April (when the owner got her)”

The owner and horse currently reside in Squamish with limited access to care and boarding facilities.

If you or someone you know is interested in adopting or would like more information, please reach out to Circle F at [email protected] and we'll put you in touch with the owner.

It is with profound sadness that we let you know Shooter passed this morning.

Late last week Shooter started to have trouble weight bearing including getting up after naps, declining his mashes, and avoiding the rest of the herd. Thus the decision to let him cross the rainbow bridge was made.

Shooter had a full weekend of love, extra mashes that he could tolerate as these too had started to decline further, and long grooming sessions in the sunshine 💕

We will miss his sweet soft nickers around the barn, but take comfort that he is running free of all his aliments in greener pastures 💕

As fall approaches at the Circle F barn we wanted to update you on all things this past summer as it was a busy one!
Ellie has now been one month post both hind-hock injections and front shoes. While Ellie is feeling much better and back to her old self, she is no longer able to carry a rider as she still is not sound on lunge-line. At this time we have decided to post Ellie as a Companion as we do not feel the addition of any more injections would render her sound enough to do light-riding.

At our main barn, things have been busy as our Landlords have just finished re-fencing the front field, a project that saw the herd off pasture for most of the summer, and dipping into our winter hay supply. While we are happy to see the field finished and the herd back onto pasture, Fall is fast approaching and soon we will need to remove the herd again to begin our annual pasture maintenance duties.

At this time Circle F's main barn is currently full with a waitlist building It is important to understand that while our Lease Agreement states we can have up to ten horses on property, the Circle F team chooses to "hold" at five sometimes six horses. This is due to our goal of "the horse comes first", safety of our Volunteers and our current financial status as although not often implied it is and remains a struggle.

At the moment we also do not have a herd that likes to have "roommates" which poses a challenge when it comes to space as they remain outside 365 days per year with oversized shelters. With over fifty volunteers, reducing the size of paddock while doable would not be in the best interest of our horses in care nor safety of our volunteers. All this being said we will support each Owner as best we can with courtesy posts, and recommendations to other rescues in their area.

As we head into a sunshine filled weekend, we wanted to update you on Ellie who recently had her upper airway scope this past week.

Ellie's scope was normal and there were no abnormal findings. Ellie was also seen yesterday for follow-up and upon xrays we determined Ellie's right-hind hock has almost fused together 😔

Yesterday, Ellie received hock injections to both hinds and in the coming days will receive front shoes to hopefully continue to make her comfortable.

Over the weekend Ellie will be re-assessed on line lunge, and if comfortable we will begin bringing her back undersaddle and Ellie will be back up for adoption.

Stay tuned for updates!
