It was very delightful to have a fellow artist, Bro. Yasser Musa and his beautiful wife Pamela at the We Art Gallery Museum. I first met Pamela and her siblings at the Belmopan Comprehensive School (late 70s to early 80s) After graduating from 'Compre' in 1981, we never saw each other again that is until today August 16th, 2025, thanks to the 10 anniversary Gala and celebrations.

I must say that our dads shared the British Honduras Police Force together. Her grandfather, Mr. Bevans was our neighbor in PG. Only a drain separated the Martinez and Bevans families. Older PG folks will recall that Bevans, father and son spoke Garifuna. Mr Bevans, Pamela's Granddad lived for over a hundred years.

Therefore, when we moved to Belmopan because of our dads there was a quiet connection.

Yaser's Dad Said, Musa played a key role in getting a young Palacio to leave Belmopan in the heart of the cold war to study in Cuba changing the lives of the Palacio family forever. My siblings followed and 5 of 7 received their university formation in Cuba.

Yasser is an artist and intellectual, therefore, a bond is also there over the years.

Today is a full circle for all of us and the point of connection is the We Art Gallery Museum where we shared great conversations, drank coffee and toured the space.

From artist to artist, I say respect and look forward to what we can do to enhance our artistic journeys while enhancing our nation and world.

You must be vigilant my people this New World Screw worm is wreaking havoc in Toledo. Don't leave any wounds untreated.
Contact your registered veterinarian. Destroy all larvae, these become flies and continue the cycle.

Children and youth ages 8 to 16 can now register for the Veterinary Mentorship Program.
Where: 42 Far West St, Punta Gorda
When: August 23, 2025
Time: 10 am. to 2 pm
Cost: $75.00 including a home cooked meal
Mentors: Dr. Ludwig Palacio, President Caribbean Veterinary Medical Association and distinguished Trinidadian Veterinarians Dr. Sasha Neckchuddy. Together they offer 40 years experience.

She told her mom "I want to be a vet".
I gave her the stethoscope and guided her to listen to her dogs' heart. When she heard it she said excitedly I hear boop, boop... as she auscultated the heart.
Let's encourage and wish her well. I declare and decree that in some years Toledo will have another Veterinarian.

The New World Screw worm is coming soon already in Mexico and Honduras. After a successful eradication program some 3 decades ago it has returned more vigorous than before and is reeking havoc on animals. We have to be vigilant and careful. Monitor all animals daily and please don't engage in contraband. If you have an animal with an open wound take care Immediately. Don't hesitate to contact BAHA if you see or suspect Screwworm.
