Bride price exceeding P25 000 is reportedly taxable according to the capital transfer tax law.

Speaking during Botswana Unified Revenue Service ( BURS) Media Training Workshop in Ghanzi, Botswana Accountancy College (BAC) Consultant for BURS Mr Kealeboga Morwe said the law demands that gifting or in the case of Magadi, tax must be paid on amounts which are more than P25 000. Mr Morwe said other taxable incomes under Capital Transfer Tax (CTT) include taxes on estates for deceased persons.

He further said Batswana must learn and be aware and knowledgeable of such.
