Sarah is one of those dogs who makes herself at home in your heart almost instantly. She's affectionate, funny, and full of charm, with the perfect balance of cuddles, curiosity, and just enough zoomies to keep life entertaining!

Remember Mario? 🍄❤️

Mario (aka Rio) is still looking for his forever home—and we're looking for the right home, not just the next one.

At just 9 months old, Rio has made incredible progress in professional foster care. He came into training after struggling with fear-based behaviours around unfamiliar people and environmental sensitivity, and he's proven just how capable he is with clear leadership, structure, and continued training.

Here's what you should know:
🐶 dog-social and loves appropriate canine friends
🏡 Quiet, respectful, and crate trained in the home
🦮 Walking well and continuing his balanced training, including e-collar conditioning for off leash reliability
🌆 Building confidence every day in a busy downtown environment
🌲 Will make an amazing adventure companion for an active lifestyle

Rio is still a sensitive dog. He can be wary of strangers and needs introductions handled thoughtfully. He isn't a social butterfly, and his adopters should be comfortable advocating for him and managing guest interactions appropriately. Because of this, he's looking for an adult-only home or one with mature teenagers.

While we have not seen any resource guarding in our care with people, dogs, toys, or food, we would never guarantee that any dog will never display those behaviours in every future environment.

Rio doesn't need another dog in the home, but regular dog socialization should remain an important part of his life. His adopters must also be committed to continuing the balanced training program he's been learning with his foster/trainer.

Rio is an incredible dog, but he isn't a turnkey pet. He's looking for someone who enjoys the process of training, providing structure, and helping a sensitive dog continue to grow. In return, you'll get an incredibly loyal adventure partner who will make all the work worthwhile. ❤️

‼️Scrump is still waiting… and she urgently needs a foster. 💛🐾

We're putting out another plea because this sweet girl still hasn't found the calm place she needs to heal.

Scrump is a medical foster, but don't let that scare you away. Her biggest needs are actually quite simple:

💊 Medication twice a day
🏡 A calm, quiet home where she can rest and recover
💕 Someone willing to commit to fostering for at least a few months

That's it.

She's already crate trained, making it much easier to manage her activity while her body recovers. Right now, the greatest gift you can give Scrump is the chance to slow down, feel safe, and focus on getting better.

You don't have to adopt. You don't have to make a lifetime commitment.

You just have to give her the time and space she needs for this chapter of her journey.

🇨🇦 Happy Canada Day! ❤️

A friendly reminder from all of us at PPP, today is also heartworm prevention day!

We always give our dogs their heartworm prevention on the 1st of every month because it’s easy to remember and it’s one of the most important things you can do to protect your pup.

This is especially important for our island dogs. Heartworm is spread by mosquitoes and is very common in the Caribbean, meaning many rescue dogs have had a much higher risk of exposure before coming to Canada.

Heartworm disease is serious, expensive to treat, and completely preventable with monthly prevention.

So while you’re celebrating Canada Day, take a minute to make sure your dog is protected too. Set a reminder, give their monthly dose, and enjoy the rest of your day knowing you’ve checked one important thing off the list. ❤️🐾

Sweet Scrump needs your help.

Scrump is currently being treated for discospondylitis, an infection affecting her spine. She's taking medication twice a day and making progress—but what she needs now is a quiet, loving foster home where she can continue to heal.

We're urgently looking for a foster in the Greater Toronto Area who can provide:
• A calm, low-activity home
• Medication twice daily
• Crate rest and limited activity
• Lots of patience and love 💛

The good news? Scrump is already crate trained, making it much easier to keep her comfortable while she recovers.

We've seen this community do incredible things for Scrump already. Now we're asking for one more miracle—a safe place for her to heal.

🦆 Meet Donald! 💙🐾

At about 18 months old, Donald is a sweet, thoughtful boy with so much love to give. He's the kind of dog who forms deep bonds with his people and becomes a loyal companion you'll wonder how you ever lived without.

Here's what Donald's foster family loves about him:
• Affectionate and loving 💕
• Good with other dogs 🐶
• Good listener who already knows "come," "sit," and "down"
• Currently learning "settle" and "wait" like a champ ✨
• Excellent in his crate and happily goes in when asked
• Walks nicely on leash
• Getting more confident with car rides 🚗
• Good with meeting new people... especially if treats are involved 😋

And then there's his favorite hobby...

Stuffies. Lots and lots of stuffies. 🧸

Donald absolutely adores his toys, especially his beloved winged dinosaur. 🦖 Better yet, he's been respectful with his belongings and hasn't been destructive around the house.

While he can be a little shy when faced with new people or experiences, he's building confidence every day and continues to show what a wonderful companion he is. Once he gets to know you, his affectionate and loyal personality truly shines.

Donald is the kind of dog who doesn't need to be the center of attention. He's happiest simply being near his people, enjoying a walk, playing with his favorite stuffie, or earning a tasty treat for a job well done.

It's hard to believe, but Mario has been waiting for over a month with little to no interest.

While other pups have found their forever families, this sweet boy is still hoping someone will choose him. 🥺

The thing is... Mario is doing everything right.

✅ Leash trained

He's friendly, social, and good with other dogs. He'd do best with children 12+ and is ready to become someone's loyal adventure buddy and best friend.

Sometimes the dogs who wait the longest aren't waiting because there's something wrong with them.
