Fazenda da Lagoa

We are a farmers' family producing coffee in the highlands of the Cerrado Mineiro, a well known region for the production of top quality coffee.

A farmers' family aiming to produce top quality coffee with environmental and social responsibility. In order to make it happen, we are constantly investing in new technologies and in our people. We believe that technology is able to improve the use we do to the natural resources we work with on a daily basis and also make us produce more and better. We also fully believe that our land and our peo

ple are the basis of our business. That's why we take very good care of both of them. We are located in the Highlands of the "Cerrado Mineiro", around 1000 m of altitude, in the Alto Paranaíba region, municipality of Presidente Olegário, Minas Gerais state, Brazil. From the 200 ha of our farm, 150 ha are planted with Catuaí, Catucaí, IBC 12, and Bourbon coffee varieties, and the rest of the area comprises native vegetation. This native vegetation is typical from the Cerrado (Brazilian Savannah) and is the house for many animals, including pumas, foxes, and many birds like seriemas and araras, which reproduce in this area. All the coffee planted in Fazenda da Lagoa is irrigated by a drip irrigation system, which improves water use and saves water. And all the water used for irrigation is licensed and granted by environmental organisations. Our coffee already has a Denomination of Origin "Café do Cerrado Mineiro" (http://cerradomineiro.org/index.php?pg=produtor&p=521&f=354) and is certified by Certifica Minas Café, a certification from the Minas Gerais state looking for good agricultural practices, traceability, and food safety. We are now on the quest of getting certified by two of the most important coffee certifications in the world, UTZ and Rainforest Alliance, which just announced that they are merging. We have been very busy lately harvesting our coffee. Many new things are happening but we haven't had time to share it here. However, we are very proud to announce that we are now a UTZ certified coffee farm. Lets celebrate with a good cup of coffee!!!☕☕☕😉😉😉

Instalando um experimento com Si em nossa última área de café plantada na fazenda da Lagoa. O Si é um elemento esquecido na agricultura em todo o mundo. Ele ajuda as plantas a aliviar qualquer tipo de stress e aumentar a resistência ao ataque de pragas e doenças. Os objetivos são compreender se o Coffea arábica pode se beneficiar de uma fertilização silicatada e se o fornecimento de Si melhora a produtividade e a qualidade do café.
