We at RFI Arabians are deeply saddened by the passing of our beloved RFI Farid.
He was the very first son of our unforgettable RFI Maktub and the extraordinary RFI Fayara El Shiraz. Farid was sold as a weanling, just 6 months old, to Pippo Palumbo, who later became a dear friend. At that time, even though we admired his beauty and quality, we could never have imagined the incredible legacy he would leave behind.
RFI Farid left Brazil with a National Jr Jr C**t title, but it was in Europe that he became a true giant. Beyond his show accomplishments, he truly excelled as a sire. He offered a different bloodline to breeders across Europe and the Middle East, producing offspring of remarkable beauty, quality, and consistency. Over the years, he would go on to make a name for himself not only as a sire, but as a grandsire and great-grandsire of champions.
But RFI Farid was more than just an exceptional stallion. With his noble character and remarkable charisma, he captured hearts around the world. He carried the name of RFI Arabians far beyond Brazil, becoming the first great ambassador of our breeding program on the international stage. We are grateful for everything he represented and for all that he taught us.
When we lost RFI Maktub, his sire, at only 14 years old, we were heartbroken. At that time, the kind and wise Lenita Perroy told me: “Rodrigo, I’m so sorry, but remember — what truly has value lasts forever.” Today, with a heavy heart, I feel the same about RFI Farid. He was a very special horse, one of a kind, who left a lasting impact on Arabian horse breeding and on everyone who met him. His memory will stay with us — because what truly matters never fades.
Rest in peace, dear boy. Thank you for everything. ❤️
