Manama What3Words Location: ///angers.charm.pulsing
Saar What3Words Location: ///anklet.meanest.satellite Our mission is to provide the best quality of care for your pets, using modern equipment and the latest techniques. PREVENTIVE MEDICINE
Vaccinations, microchipping and worming can be performed a

t both surgeries during normal consulting hours. INTERNAL MEDICINE
Simple cases can be diagnosed and treated during consults. We can hospitalize and work up more complex medicine cases and provide treatment if needed. SURGERY
Surgeries are performed at the Manama branch. Simple surgical procedures can be carried out in the Saar Branch too. All routine procedures are available here. We can also do more complex soft tissue and orthopaedic surgeries including plating, pinning and joint surgeries. However we do not undertake spinal surgery but have access to a neurologist for second opinions and complex cases and we can refer if necessary. OPHTALMOLOGY
We perform many ocular surgeries at this hospital and also have access to an ophthalmology specialist for second opinion or complex cases. RADIOLOGY AND ULTRASOUND
We have a digital x-ray machine and ultrasound. For most x-rays animal will need sedation to get the right positioning and to prevent them from moving. In compliant animals ultrasound can be done without sedation. We use ultrasound to diagnose intra-abdominal pathology and pregnancy. DENTISTRY
We have a dental scaler and polisher for routine dentals. Animals are anesthetized to have their teeth cleaned. We can also perform more complex dental procedures eg. teeth extractions, root abscesses and surgery on gums and jaws using dedicated pneumatic dental equipment. PATHOLOGY
We have the facilities to do in house biochemistry, haematology, cultures and urine analysis. Animals have to be starved for most blood tests. For biopsies we use a local pathology laboratory. For more complex cases we send samples overseas. AVIAN AND EXOTICS MEDICINE AND SURGERY
We routinely treat birds and reptiles as well as "small furries" such as rabbits, hamsters and ferrets. Our vets also have contact with other exotic experts around the world and are able to treat virtually any other exotic animal except monkeys and other primates. It is actually illegal to own primates in Bahrain and we do not encourage the keeping of them as pets due to the potential health risks to humans. GROOMING
We groom both cats and dogs. For animals that are nervous we provide sedation. Animals are also bathed. We can either clip off hair or groom in a style cut, as the owner wishes. Very matted hair coats may have to be shaved as it is too uncomfortable for the animal to groom out the knots. The hair regrows quickly.

Fun Fact: Cats sometimes sprint around the house like maniacs — it’s called a “Frenetic Random Activity Period” or FRAP. It’s totally normal and often means they’re releasing pent-up energy.

Why do we sometimes have to repeat X-rays?

Because pets don’t stay still like humans, sometimes positioning isn’t perfect—or the changes we’re monitoring aren’t yet visible on earlier images. Repeating X-rays can help us get clearer views, assess progression, or confirm a diagnosis. It’s not about being excessive; it’s about being accurate. Your pet deserves the best possible care.

Why do we recommend regular check-ups and blood tests for pets on long-term medications?

Because medications that support your pet can also affect internal organs over time. Regular blood tests—at least every 6 months, but sometimes more frequently depending on the case—help us catch early signs of liver or kidney changes and adjust dosages as needed. Six months in a pet’s life is a long time—and early detection helps keep them safer, longer.

Why do we ask for fasting before sedation, anaesthesia, or ultrasounds?

Fasting reduces the risk of vomiting and aspiration during sedation or anaesthesia—a potentially serious complication. For abdominal ultrasounds, it helps us get clear views by reducing food and gas interference. Always ask us how long your pet needs to fast—it varies by procedure and species!

Why do we ask you to stay available by phone on the morning of your pet’s procedure?

Because if we need your consent for anything unexpected—like extractions during a dental or a biopsy during surgery—we need to be able to reach you quickly. Your input helps us make real-time decisions in your pet’s best interest.

Why do we ask for a prescription for certain foods and medications?

Some diets and drugs require veterinary oversight for safe and effective use. Prescriptions ensure your pet truly needs the product—and that there are no medical risks or interactions. A prescription should include your pet’s details, the prescribing vet’s signature, date, and full product name. If you’re unsure what that looks like—just ask! We’re here to help.

Why Do We Ask for Your Pet’s Medical History?

Because it’s not about being difficult—it’s about delivering safe, informed care.

Whether it’s your pet’s first visit or you’re coming for a second opinion, having access to their medical history is vital. It’s not just paperwork—it’s a roadmap to better health.

Here’s why it matters:
• Avoid drug reactions
Knowing what medications were used before—and any side effects—keeps your pet safe.
• Prevent repetition
We won’t waste time on treatments that didn’t work and can focus on what has.
• Ensure vaccines are up to date and your pet is protected
With a clear vaccination history, we can make sure your pet has the protection they need—no unnecessary repeats, and no missed boosters.
• Spot patterns
Chronic or recurring issues often become clearer through past records and test results.
• Make informed decisions
In emergencies or complex cases, having access to previous blood work, imaging, and lab reports can be critical in making the right call quickly.

Did you know?
It is a legal requirement in Bahrain for veterinary clinics to keep accurate medical records for every pet they treat. As a pet owner, it is your legal right to request a copy of your pet’s records at any time.

We understand it may feel inconvenient to track down past records—but we promise, it’s not red tape. It’s the foundation for giving your pet the best possible care.

Your pet can’t speak—but their history does.

Myth vs. Fact: Feline Edition
Myth: Cats always land on their feet.
Fact: While cats have an amazing righting reflex, they can suffer serious injuries—or worse—from high falls. This is known as high-rise syndrome, and it’s more common than you think.

Guess who came in to see his favourite vet?

It’s Franklin! This handsome boy popped in to visit Dr. Sarah after having a few tummy troubles. Luckily, he was all smiles and tail wags—and he’s already feeling better with a little TLC and the right care.

Feel better soon, Franklin! We love seeing that happy face. 🐾🐶

Ever seen a cat with two different eye colors? That’s called heterochromia, and it’s just as magical as it sounds!

Meet our stunning patient showing off his gorgeous mismatched eyes—one golden, one blue. Heterochromia in cats is usually harmless and is simply a beautiful quirk of genetics.

Got a kitty with unique features? We’d love to meet them!
