🧬✨ How did we get a blue tortie mackerel tabby girl from a black tortie blotched tabby mom and a solid blue dad? Let’s break it down! 🐾

👩‍👧‍👦 Mom: Black tortie + blotched tabby (swirls)
👨‍👧‍👦 Dad: Solid blue (diluted black, no tabby shown)

💫 Our kitten is:
• Tortie – inherited red (O) from mom, non-red (o) from dad
• Blue/cream – both parents carry dilution (d/d)
• Tabby – got agouti (A) from mom
• Mackerel – dad carried the striped gene (Mc), even if he didn’t show it

➡️ End result? A gorgeous mix of stripes, swirls, and color patches 💙🐯

Полидактилията е вродено състояние, при което котките се раждат с допълнителни пръсти на лапите си. Обикновено котките имат по 18 пръста – по 5 на предните и по 4 на задните лапи. Но при полидактилия броят може да достигне до 20 и повече!

🔹 Особено често това срещаме при мейн куните, една от най-големите и стари породи котки. Исторически се смята, че полидактилията е била полезна за тези котки, защото им е давала по-голяма стабилност и по-добро захващане, особено в снежни и гористи райони.

💡 Полидактилия не е болест – това е просто генетична особеност, която обикновено не причинява никакви проблеми.

Polydactyly is a congenital condition in which cats are born with extra toes on their paws. Normally, cats have 18 toes – 5 on the front paws and 4 on the back paws. But with polydactyly, the number can reach 20 or more!

🔹 This is especially common in Maine C**ns, one of the largest and oldest cat breeds. Historically, polydactyly was believed to be beneficial for these cats, as it gave them greater stability and better grip, especially in snowy and wooded areas.

💡 Polydactyly is not a disease – it is simply a genetic trait that usually does not cause any problems.
