Last Saturday marked three months since Akira’s passing…
If someone told you that grief becomes lighter or easier by then — it doesn’t.
By this time, the initial shock of losing her has faded, the world has moved on, and I have to move with it, yet the quiet reality of the void she left behind has truly settled in.

But on this exact day, a beautiful synchronicity happened — a profound moment of connection, as if Akira reached out to us and sent a vivid, colorful sign to break through that heavy fog.

My sister and I went to feed Akira’s stray dog friend, Belcho, who now lives in a dog house in the yard of a nearby factory, where we, some friends, and the employees take care of him. Akira loved him deeply when she was still in her physical form. So we bought some of her favorite food and treats and went to give them to Belcho in her name.

Suddenly, out of nowhere, it began to rain heavily, so we hid under the factory roof with Belcho while it poured for more than half an hour. And during this sudden storm, a full, bright rainbow appeared — like a bold, beautiful “hello” from Akira, letting us and Belcho know she was right there with us in that moment of remembering her.

A few seconds after the rainbow painted the sky, a bird flew beneath it toward us — like a messenger of Akira’s spirit, free again from physical limitations.
After several minutes, the rainbow faded… and then returned a second time, softer and partial, like a gentle lingering goodbye.

I had asked her to send me a rainbow as a sign the previous week, when it rained a couple of times — but she waited to send it exactly on the three‑month anniversary.
I felt such a rush of happiness, love, warmth, and grief all at once that a few lines came to me, and I shaped them into a “poem” and made a video with some colourful images of Akira to keep this memory forever.

Our dearest Akira,

Today is your birthday — or at least the date we chose for you, when the vets told us you must have been born around the end of April the year we adopted you. Today you would have turned 16. And tomorrow it will be two months since you left this world. Our lives changed forever that day, when you were no longer physically by our sides.
Honestly, I had such high hopes that you would still be here with us today, celebrating your birthday at least one more time.

We knew your first birthday among the stars would be unbearably hard because of the pain of your physical absence… but as the days go by, we also feel more and more strongly that our souls remain connected.
The first weeks after you passed were the hardest of our lives, but little by little the pain and grief began to transform into healing and gratitude — not because it stopped hurting, but because you taught us how to keep loving.

Because sometimes, when we become still enough, the silence around us doesn’t feel empty.
It feels like you.
Like you never really left, but continue to stay close.
We know you are now everywhere we are, and part of everything we do.

Though we will miss your physical presence every day for the rest of our lives, today we choose to celebrate your life, your love, and the gift of knowing you. We are grateful and honored that you chose us to be your humans. Your birthday, the day you found me, and the day we brought you home will forever be sacred to us — and we will celebrate you even more on each of them.

On this day, the memories shine brighter and feel almost tangible. Even the sun appeared today after several rainy, cloudy days, touching and lighting up your favorite spots in the house. We hope you can feel how much these memories mean to us and how deeply we cherish you.

We always loved making big celebrations for your birthdays — homemade dog cakes, lots of gifts, treats, photoshoots… We dressed you in your favorite skirts and had joyful parties with your beloved humans and bunny friends. Your special day deserved to be celebrated, because we wanted you to feel loved and happy.
Now, looking back, we realize that you were the gift all along — the one who made our days brighter, fuller, softer, and nothing short of a blessing.

This time we cannot send you a gift, but we will make a wish upon the stars and send our never‑ending love to you on the sun’s rays and on the wings of the wind, wherever you are.

Happy birthday in Heaven to our soul dog, our guardian angel, our healer — Akira! 💓
Heaven must be more colorful and alive today with a vibrant, passionate, phenomenal soul like yours... 🤩
May the sun always warm your fur and the wind carry your jubilant voice into eternity!!!
May your vivid spirit dance gracefully among the stars, run freely on soft fresh grass, climb the highest mountains, and play in powdery white snow!

Happy Birthday our celestial kitsune! Akira, we love you beyond time, across space, and into eternity!

Your human family!

I caught Ginger laying next to one of Akira's favorite toys the same way he used to spend hours laying close to her in the last 2 months of her life, when her health deteriorated and she was not any more able to get up on her own... He was guarding her, trying to bring some cheer to her, monitoring her closely and this was remarkable, because he is a bunny, who prefers his personal space, usually he was not going on his own to spend so much time with Akira, while she was healthy. And now you could tell that he misses her and still searches for her 🐰❤️🐶

Our sweet Akira,

It’s almost impossible to grasp that a whole month has gone by since you crossed to the other side and became the brightest star.

It still feels like yesterday — the way you looked at us with that deep, endless love in your eyes, and how we sank into them, trying to reach the depths of your soul. Somehow, on a subconscious level, we felt you were saying goodbye… We sat beside you, stroking your favorite spot between your eyes and kissing your tiny nose.

Then came the most horrible night... It was as if we were trying to stop time itself, trying to hold your life in our hands while it slipped away like sand through tightly clenched fingers.

And then the silence settled. Uninvited, heavy, suffocating.
It felt like the house lost its soul.
Like the sun stopped shining for us.

It’s almost inconceivably hard to move through life without seeing you, hearing you, or feeling your warmth next to us. Nothing will ever be the same.
The cold empty spots where you loved to sleep… the first walk without you, the first car ride without you curled up beside us, the first movie night without you in a little donut at our feet, the first evening alone at home, the first mountain trip without you…

But in every one of those painful moments, alongside the tears and the ache, something warm and beautiful also came — the memories. They poured in like a stream of light. Our bond became tangible again, your image brighter, your soul woven even deeper into ours.
We once did everything together. Now we do it through memories...

And so… we no longer walk alone.
You’re still rushing ahead of us on our walks, sticking your nose into our plates, watching us intently while we cook, manifesting something tasty to fall (and you still manage to make it happen!). You steal a little lick from the Ginger’s ears, jump into the car first, gossip at the window while we work, curl into a donut in our laps during movies, run joyfully through the snow in the mountains…

You’re here. In everything.
In every moment.
In every movement.
And you always will be.

You were — and continue to be — our beacon of light, our brave guardian, our healer, our best friend, our family. A soul who bound the three of us into one heart. Always by our side, watching with love and devotion. No judgment, no conditions, no ego… just love.

Thank you, endlessly, for choosing us.
For your wholehearted and pure love.
For your devotion.
For the lessons.
For your gifts.
We love you, always.

Your human sisters 💗

This Tuesday morning (24.02) at 10:50, a bright, gleaming, loyal, loving heart stopped beating.
A strong-willed spirit ascended into eternity.
Tired paws finally found their rest.
The brightest, most understanding eyes closed forever.
A sharp, always watchful mind grew quiet.
And a joyful, excited bark echoed for the very last time.

Our sweetest, bravest girl Akira passed away unexpectedly after a two‑month battle.

In September last year, her vets discovered two masses in her abdomen — one completely engulfing her left kidney, and another one standing separately from any organ, close to her stomach. Because of her age and overall condition, surgery was considered extremely high‑risk, so together with her vets we chose a different path: to try shrinking the masses and supporting her immune system with medicinal mushrooms, CBD, Omega‑3, apoptogen and vitamin supplements, and acupuncture.

For four months, these treatments worked better than we ever hoped — even the mass on her kidney had shrunk.

But in early December, Akira was diagnosed with giardia, clostridium, and campylobacter. For two months she fought them bravely. She managed to overcome the giardia, but the two bacteria were incredibly persistent, despite the dedicated care of her lifelong vets, who did everything possible to help her. Most likely because of the tumors, her immune system had become too weak to defeat the tiny monsters in her gut.

Still, she never complained. Not once. She never gave up. She kept fighting with her whole heart. And she always looked at us with eyes full of sparkle, trust, and zest for life — right until her last day.

We were with her the whole time during her final hours; she passed away in our hands, with one last loud bark, showered with our kisses and comforting words.

✨ Winter sun + bunny snuggles = pure magic ✨
Ginger decided my bed is officially his sunbathing spot today, and honestly… who could argue with that level of cuteness?
Soft rays, soft fur, soft heart. ☀️🐰

Today my hoomins carried my bed outside, just so I could watch the snow up close. ❄️
I watched the snow in silence, letting its softness settle on my fur like a gentle blessing.

They helped me stand, and for a few precious steps I felt the snow beneath my paws again — cold, familiar, full of memories.
They shook the branches above me, and I tasted blissfully the falling flakes.
Later, I ate a handful of snow like a small, icy treat… and I smiled in my own quiet way.
My body may be fragile now, but joy still finds me.

Today, winter wrapped itself around me — in my mouth, on my fur, under my paws — and for a moment, everything felt whole again.” 🤍🐾
