First of all a good oral examination during which the complete mouth and all teeth are examined. After removing sharp enamel points the occlusal surface is equilibrated to make sure pressure is evenly devided over molars and also incisors…

Make sure to have an equine dental vet that is specialized in this field to check your horse annually!!!

Oral health is so important for your equine friend's overall well-being and we always recommend you have your veterinarian check your horse’s teeth at least once a year.

Why? Here is one of the many reasons, straight from the mouth of the horse doctors at :

“Sharp points can form in your horse's mouth and create ulcers. Oral ulcers may present as dropping feed, reluctance to eat or decreased appetite, and/or resistance to the bit. Most oral ulcers heal very quickly after a good float and don't tend to cause future issues!”
