Snake Saturday! ➡️ One of Madagascar’s strangest reptiles is the Madagascar leaf-nosed snake. 🐍 👀

With its bizarre, flexible leaf-like snout, this remarkable species is found nowhere else on Earth. As a rear-fanged venomous snake, it uses its mild venom to subdue prey, feeding mainly on lizards, frogs, and other small reptiles.

Despite being venomous, it is not considered dangerous to humans. In fact, it is a calm, slow-moving snake that rarely shows aggression.

Male midwife toads wind strings of fertilized eggs around their hind legs right after mating, sometimes carrying two or three clutches from different females at once, a couple of hundred eggs in total. He'll keep them tucked against his body for several weeks, retreating to damp crevices, or going for a swim, by day, to keep them from drying out. When the embryos are ready to hatch, he seeks out a calm stretch of water like a pond or puddle and releases the tadpoles into the water.
