Today we have a special “cross over” edition of our hero's stories
✨ THE LEGACY OF A HERO: AN INTERNATIONAL ALLIANCE ✨
Every great superhero story has a heart—a hero who stands at the center, inspires the team, and defines what it means to give everything. For us, that hero was Vegas.
Vegas. He was there for the 2nd place at Crufts in 2025 and in the team in 2024, a titan on the mats and a soul we all loved. Losing him so suddenly left a gap in our team and our hearts that felt impossible to fill. We weren't just missing a fast dog; we were missing a family member. We truly couldn't imagine running at the Crufts without him.
But then came the ultimate act of sportsmanship. 🦸♂️🤝🦸♂️
For years, we have shared a "friendly rivalry" with the Roadrunners Flyball Team from Belgium. They have been our toughest competition—beating us at the 2024 World Cup, the 2025 Europeans, and right here at Crufts last year. They were the "nemesis" we always had to beat, but over those races, a deep friendship was forged.
When news of Vegas’s passing reached them, Wesley, who ran with Roadrunners, did something extraordinary. He reached out to Mat (Vegas’s owner) with a humble offer:.... his own experienced powerhouse, Drogon, would step up. Wesley recognised that no one could ever "replace" Vegas. Instead, he suggested that Drogon could run in Vegas’s position in his honor. 🕊️
This year, the "International Flyball Multiverse" is coming together. Wesley has been traveling from Belgium to train with us, showing incredible kindness to Mat, Nicole, and the whole team. We are eternally grateful to Wesley and Drogon for racing in Cambridgeshire Red this year.
On Friday, March 6th, when you see Drogon fly down the lane, know that he isn't just racing for a win. He’s carrying the torch for a fallen hero.
