HOW MUCH FOR A KITTEN ?
Let me say a few words for you, yes you, the person who writes an email just to ask the price. The person calling and after hearing the price, surprisingly says: "I can buy a cheaper cat elsewhere." I'm addressing you too; the person who doesn't care about papers because I want "just a pet".
No cat is “just a pet”.
Behind every purebreed cat is a BREEDER. I use capital letters to distinguish a breeder from an animal factory or mill. A reputable breeder does not breed cats without papers that do not protect the integrity of the breed. Registration (papers) are pedigree records that document pedigree and allow one to do research on any health issues present in the pedigree. When you tell a breeder you don't care about papers, what you're really telling them is that you don't really care about the cat's health, you just want it cheapest you can find ! When you choose to buy a cat from a reputable, high quality breeder, this breeder is responsible for every cat's health; both owned cats and anyone they've sold throughout their lifetime. This breeder will skip holidays, miss sleeping, and most of their personal enclosure has been turned into room for their cats. The truly passionate breeders who love what they grow, put their whole heart and soul into it. Not only with kittens for sale, but also with every customer who owns a piece of their heart and is now a member of their extended family. This does not take into account kittens/cats who may get sick or have extra help to thrive. Breeders care about their babies when they're gone and will take them back without questions asked.
A breeder will get dirty hands, often covered in everything that accompanies childbirth. Because that's what life is all about.. In the middle of birth and death - is life. The wheel that keeps on turning.
A breeder will perform tests, ultrasound, x-rays, analysis, emergency c-section, vaccinations, register cats and litters, research pedigree, worms, as well as microchip their kittens and have them evaluated by specialists.
Last but not least, a breeder CHOOSES the family that is lucky enough to get one of their kittens. Yes, you read that right. A true breeder chooses who they sell to because they don't make money from the sale. There is no compensation that can compensate for the investment a Breeder has made, so they have to be sure that it fits. Saying no a lot more times than yes..... A good breeder will have different criteria for those who wish to continue their breed, why? Because breeding is not a responsibility to ever be taken lightly, it's a lifestyle choice set aside for ONLY the few devoted people who are willing
Because a cat is never "just a pet", it is the breeder's legacy, a little boy's best friend, a little girl's protector, an elderly person's therapy, a member of the family, someone else's whole world!!!
