Pedigree Suffolk Sheep Private Sale Report

Although our lambs were unfortunately unable to attend this year’s Scottish Area Sale, we were delighted with the success of our private sale, which proved to be an excellent reward for the months of preparation and hard work that had gone into presenting the lambs.

Robert had invested an enormous amount of time and effort into preparing the team, and they were undoubtedly looking the best they have for many years. It was therefore particularly pleasing to see that dedication recognised by such a strong level of demand from buyers.

Leading the trade was FHT:26:02759, which sold for 12,300gns and will now join Paul Delves’ Bridgeview flock. This outstanding ram topped our sale and reflects the quality and consistency of this year’s offering.

The second highest-priced ram was FHT:26:02693, which sold for 2,700gns and has been purchased by Stewart Craft for the Lakeview flock.

Several other promising lambs also found excellent new homes. FHT:26:02741 joins Christine Slaven’s flock, FHT:26:02764 heads to the Speyside flock, and FHT:26:02706 will become part of the Alloaks flock. We wish all of their new owners every success with them in the years ahead.

5 lambs averaged 3530gns

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Lawrie and Symington and everyone who bought sheep from us, as well as to all the underbidders whose continued interest and support is greatly appreciated.

Last but not least an extra special thanks to Pieter and Bert for all their help with photos and preparations before hand (and sales pitch 😂)

First, last, and only outing of the show season this year, at the biggest show in Belgium, Herne.
We entered 2 classes of sheep, ewelambs and gimmers, and won them both.

1️⃣st prize and Champion ewelamb with a late born daughter of Grants Slam - Patrick Grant - Mike Grant - out of a Williams Suffolk Rolls Royce - João Guilherme - former Breed Champion. First of a class of 42 (4️⃣2️⃣!!) high quality ewelambs entered!

1️⃣st & 2️⃣nd prize gimmers, and Champion gimmer, out 25 gimmers of fantastic standard. Both are sired by Solwaybank Suffolks Premier - Iain Barbour - Judith Nelson

FEMALE CHAMPION with the gimmer.
RESERVE FEMALE CHAMPION with the ewelamb.
I was told that was a first time ever.

Reserve Breed Champion as well, congrats to Lionel, Jenny Van Neste, and Franky van Sterthem with their aged ram being Breed.

Well done to all other contestants, it was great seeing so much enthusiastic young breeders, and many thanks to master judge Venturino Paoletti Venturino Paoletti, organizers Alain Nerinckx & Yves Nerinckx for all the hard work in hot weather, professional photographers Joop Timmer and Pieter Frijters, and my wife Lies Asselberghs for the loving helping hands.
