First you build confidence and trust. You set up a communication based on mutual understanding and respect. Throughout that communication you work on establishing that partnership you want so much. It is never about winning or losing. Working a horse, is mainly working on yourself to become a better human being than you were yesterday. Think of that every time you work with your horse !

A true definition of horsemanship!

Be busy with your horse so you stay out of trouble – otherwise, trouble will come and find you.

Jouw paard, Jouw partner ?

Het internet en vele stallen staan vol met heel goede paarden, die perfect zadelmak zijn, maar waar je toch je dochter liever niet ziet op zitten, wandelpaarden die bomproof zijn, zolang je er niet mee buiten komt, paarden die gemakkelijk zijn in de omgang, zolang je ze maar niet moet leiden, je niet bij de achterhand komt ofer geen smid aan de voeten komt, paarden die licht zijn op de hulpen zolang je zelf veel macht hebt, ze met sporen, een sterk bit of bijzetteugels rijdt, paarden die perfect te vervoeren zijn, zolang er geen trailerladen aan te pas komt...

Enigzins herkenbaar, enigzins confronterend ? Het goede nieuws is dat je al deze onhebbelijkheden met de juiste begeleiding en aanpak perfect kan omvormen. Ga voor een nieuw soort relatie met je paard, één waarin je paard je begrijpt en jij je paard begrijpt, een relatie waarin je paard je partner wordt en jouw idee zijn idee wordt.

Het goede nieuws is dat ook jij dit kan leren en dat het bij elk paard, wat ook zijn afstamming, historiek of leeftijd is.

Aan iedereen een gezond en gelukkig 2016! Dank aan allen die erbij waren in 2015. ook dit jaar wordt een jaar vol vooruitgang en groei en voor my is dit al gestart met een nieuw projectpaardje : deze flinke Brabander van drie jaar oud laat zich momenteel niet leiden wegens nare ervaringen in een vorig verleden (dus niet by de huidige eigenaar). Na drie sessies kan ik hem strelen, komt hy naar me toe, kan ik zijdelingse buiging vragen van het hoofd en werken we aan zyn vertrouwen. Het ultieme doel is hem veilig en vertrouwensvol te kunnen trailerladen.

If you hear bad comments on natural horsemanship, it's because they never tried it a proper way or they didn't try hard enough. learning can only happen when you leave your comfortzone. if you do what you always did, you will always get what you always got. this shouldn t be a problem unless you re not fully happy with what you have. It applies not only to horses but to life in general. don't wait for the change to come, make it happen!
