Garden Cats 🪴: UPDATE
Whilst I have a quick minute to sit down, I thought I’d update you all on the garden cats and where we are at.
We have been fighting the Giardia fight, they’ve fought me, I’ve fought them, they’ve fought the medicine. I’ve had poo flung at me, my fingers bit & some impressive food strike… next week we sample their 💩 again & see if we have managed to eliminate it. I’m not hopeful. With this many in a confined space… it just goes round & around. But let’s see.
The adults are just scared, not nasty, just petrified. So they get all the grace in the world.
The kittens… 🌶️ I’ve won the fight with a few of them, because in this place the motto is “hisses get kisses”… and others still want my eyeballs ripped from their sockets. But I’m just the scary lady who reaches into their little safe space & they have safety in numbers, that will get better when we have more space.
Mama is doing a great job with her little sprouts, their eyes are just opening up & are starting to wobble around.
It really saddens me every time I walk in to see them all caged after them finding safety in that big garden, it really really does. BUT, the timber is here, the mesh is here & now we just need to roof tiles to be delivered. Sara and hubby very kindly took down the metal shed where the catio will be built… and we think.. all being well, building will start on 9/10 June.
Once it’s up, I’ll have an open door policy for anybody who would like to come and sit with them, play with them, give them treats and socialise them so we can give them a chance at a new home.
I’ll do a separate building progress update when I’ve got more time but for now, just thank you. Thank you to everyone for everything you’ve donated. They wouldn’t have had a chance without you 🩷🩷🩷
