If a dog has been given chemotherapy before, but the tumour is still there - or increased in size later, when restarting chemotherapy - giving a lower dose, to that which was given before, will be ineffective. One needs to restart chemotherapy with the last dose that was given - and gradually increase dosage - following my dosage regimen.

This is Cherry Eye. This dog does not have tumours in his eyes. Never give such dogs chemotherapy.

Do not send a mother dog to be spayed if she still has milk in her mammary glands. Squeeze her last teats (nearest to her tail) to confirm. Normally, mother dogs stop lactating two months after giving birth.

Please do not give puppies scabo / ivermectin / delentin - any deworming medication. There is no literature on it - but I have seen from experience, that if a puppy has parvo - deworming medication will cause it to die. One cannot be sure if the puppy has parvo, because symptoms can take up to a week to manifest - so best not to give it. If the puppy has maggots - pour ivermectin drops over the maggots. If the puppy has mange - give raw garlic (in food); one fourth of a clove, once a day - until hair starts to grow (giving too much garlic can kill).

Parvo
If one puppy has the parvo virus - keep separately from other puppies. Wash hands after touching the puppy that has parvo - before you touch the other puppies. Even use different shoes - and if you have rubbed them against you - change your clothes too. I cannot emphasize on how contagious the parvo virus is.

How to get a step-mother to accept step-puppies.
If a mother dog dies, only try giving the puppies to a lactating step-mother if they have not started eating solid yet. A step-mother might bit them - and kill them. To try to get the step-mother to accept the step-puppies, one needs to rub the bodies of the step-puppies with the bodies of the step-mother's actual puppies - to get their smell onto the step-puppies. If she has no puppies; rub her with a cloth, and then rub the cloth onto the step-puppies. Be VERY careful when giving the step-puppies to the step-mother - especially the first puppy; stay ready to stop the mother from biting the puppies. Once she has accepted one, or all of them, she could still bite them later.

How to prepare a dog for surgery;
(1) Infection; if he/she already has an infection - start antibiotics.
(2) Weight; if underweight - give more food.
(3) Blood cells; check the underneath of the dog's eyes; if they are white / pink - and not red, it means he / she does not have enough red blood cells. To increase red blood cells, give him / her cynomin, or hemprovet. For an adult dog, inject 0.6ml in both thighs, once a week; for a puppy, inject 0.3ml in both thighs, once a week. If he / she does not allow you to give injections; give half a teaspoon of Compiron every day, until surgery - for an adult dog: give a quarter of a teaspoon of Compiron every day, until surgery - for a puppy.
(4) Hydration; if the dog has a wound or a tumour, then he / she is probably dehydrated - because water is coming out of the body from that wound / tumour. Cover the wound / tumour with gauze. The dog will take it off - replace it. Mix water with his food. Pull the back part of his neck; if it bounces back - he she is not dehydrated; if it takes a while for the skin to get back in place - he / she is dehydrated.
(5) Only if the dog is not underweight, the underneath of his / her eyes are red, and he / she is not dehydrated, will the dog be able to survive surgery. After surgery, do not give the same antibiotic that was used prior to surgery (ask the vet to prescribe a different antibiotic).

Rules for adoption;
(1) Spay / neuter the dog if he / she is nine months or above, 14kg or more, and healthy. (2) You have to deliver the dog yourself, and note the address. Some frauds give the wrong address, and later block one.
(2a) You have to make sure that the landlord agrees.
(2b) You have to speak with the adopter's family, to make sure they give permission - especially if the adopter is a minor.
(2c) You have to see where they will keep the dog. Is it safe? Can he/she elope from there? If it is a puppy, then he/she needs to be kept in sunlight all day, and warm all night, and where rain cannot reach him/her (or they are more likely to get parvo, distemper, and so on).
(2d) Check if they have other dogs; bigger dogs often cannot accept - and attack - smaller puppies.
(4) You have to give the dog a collar, and for puppies attach the collar loosely (if he/she elopes, if he/she has a collar, the more likely he/she will be found).
(5) You have to keep a copy of the adoptor's NID.

The rules for chemotherapy.
(1) You have to use my dosage regimen.
(2) Weigh the dog, and measure his/her temperature, before giving chemotherapy. If the dog has lost weight, or his/her temperature is above or below 101'-102.5' Fahrenheit, is eating less, or appears weak - do not give chemotherapy.
If you are giving spot treatment take a weighing machine and thermometer with you. Make sure someone feeds the dog, and will inform you, immediately, if he/she is eating less - or not at all. If he/she stops eating, you have to take him/her to a shelter immediately, where he/she will be given I.V. etc. and monitored.
(2) Every week you have to give a video of the chemotherapy; finding the vein (blood), the site(s) of the tumour(s), body, face, and how much Vincristine (Cristine 2) was administered.

If a bitch is over nine months old, approximately 14kgs, healthy, and mating, spay her immediately. Even spaying at the onset of pregnancy can be risky.

Keep puppies in sunlight (in a veranda or roof-top) all day, and warm (preferably near an electric heater) and dry, when it iscold and / or raining. Do not bathe puppies when it is raining or cold. If you must then do it with warm water - and dry quickly. The cold and rain (wetness) causes parvo.

Please donate cages to foster homes. I am urging all foster homes to keep every single puppy separately - especially during the cold / rainy / parvo season. If one puppy gets parvo - the rest of them will contract the virus - and die (even with prompt and proper treatment). They also fight - and can kill each other. So if they are going to be kept in a foster home they should be kept properly, or aiguli adha kamna, or it is better to just let them out on the streets - where they are spread out - and less likely to get affected.
