World Zoonoses Day, which is celebrated annually on July 6 to honour the first immunization against a zoonotic illness like Avian Influenza, West Nile Virus is observed. On July 6, 1885, French biologist Louis Pasteur gave the first vaccine against the zoonotic disease rabies. World Zoonoses Day holds significance in educating and raising awareness about zoonotic diseases that can be shared between animals & humans.
Zoonotic diseases commonly referred to as Zoonoses which are contagious illnesses brought on by pathogens that can spread between animals and humans.
ACME, USAID funded Feed the Future Bangladesh Livestock and Nutrition Activity and ACDI/VOCA jointly celebrates “World Zoonoses Day -2022” across the country.
