Dear all,
With both gratitude and sadness I announce a pause in my coaching services and the closing of my coaching location in Aruba. Due to personal circumstances I have to relocate to the Netherlands, a process which proved to be very difficult in these bizarre times that are upon us.
A very big thank you to you, my clients, trainers, colleagues, friends and other followers for the trust, the help, support and interest in my equine assisted coaching practice. Without all of you I would not have been able to give my clients such wonderful experiences with my wonderful horses. The horses have been the most amazing partners, as some of you have experienced yourselves. They have taught me so much, I am forever grateful to them and they will be in my heart forever.

Coaching the Aruba Beach Tennis Selection team!
In a completely different setting than usual, part of the Aruba selection joined in a mental coaching session. The activities were aimed on team-building and communication.
In two groups the players learned how to synchronize and enforce their actions by clear verbal AND nonverbal communication. With the horses reacting instantly to the level of coherence within the teams, it became very clear that body language plays an important role in effective communication, which is necessary to increase confidence.
The final exercise to move as synchronized as a herd was difficult but successful and after a while the horse moved freely with the teams as if he was one of them.

This video shows an example of a coaching session with horses.
It was filmed by the Dutch Centrum voor Paardencoaching, a partnership of equine assisted coaches in the Netherlands, Aruba and France, who share the same work methods and ideas, based on our own education program, which was developed by the founder Wendela Den Tonkelaar.
The story is based on common experiences of our coaches. Unfortunately for my non-dutch clients, the video is in dutch. However, I think the images speak for themselves. Enjoy!

The rainy season in Aruba creates a lush green paradise.... after the extreme heat and drought the lush grasses are very welcome!! My horses get to enjoy it as much as possible...

Coaching with horses - no strings attached!

As a rule of conduct we regularly check with our horses if they are willing to participate in the coaching sessions.
In this video you can see me interacting with Pegasus, a horse from one of my colleagues, Emmy from Novequine Coaching in the Netherlands.
Pegasus was new to coaching at the time. In this first session he already showed his lovely soft way of making a connection. He has helped numerous people since then!
At the Centrum voor Paardencoaching we visit each other on a regular basis to keep learning from each other and help - as I did here.

Indeed, from their heart to yours!

Science is always proving what the heart knows to be true ♥️🐴

Recent studies conducted by the Institute of HeartMath provide a clue to explain the bidirectional "healing" that happens when we are near horses. According to researchers, the heart has a larger electromagnetic field and higher level of intelligence than the brain: A magnetometer can measure the heart's energy field radiating up to 8 to 10 feet around the human body. While this is certainly significant it is perhaps more impressive that the electromagnetic field projected by the horse's heart is five times larger than the human one (imagine a sphere-shaped field that completely surrounds you). The horse's electromagnetic field is also stronger than ours and can actually directly influence our own heart rhythm!
Horses are also likely to have what science has identified as a "coherent" heart rhythm (heart rate pattern) which explains why we may "feel better" when we are around them. . . .studies have found that a coherent heart pattern or HRV is a robust measure of well-being and consistent with emotional states of calm and joy--that is, we exhibit such patterns when we feel positive emotions.
A coherent heart pattern is indicative of a system that can recover and adjust to stressful situations very efficiently. Often times, we only need to be in a horses presence to feel a sense of wellness and peace. In fact, research shows that people experience many physiological benefits while interacting with horses, including lowered blood pressure and heart rate, increased levels of beta-endorphins (neurotransmitters that serve as pain surppressors), decreased stress levels, reduced feelings of anger, hostility, tension and anxiety, improved social functioning; and increased feelings of empowerment, trust, patience and self-efficacy."
