Before questioning Manuel Jorge de Oliveira’s methods, assuming the horses are nervous in double bridles, or claiming they are ridden in poor posture, please pause.
If you have not seen the work with your own eyes, refrain from making harsh judgments based on assumptions or second-hand opinions. Instead of engaging in negative commentary from behind a keyboard, approach the subject with humility. Attend a clinic in Australia, observe how Manuel works, learn his methods, and understand the theories behind his training. Then form your opinion based on experience, not hearsay.
Only then does an opinion carry real weight.

Why I Ride
In the 30 years I have dedicated to riding, I have always searched for a way of working that truly benefits the horse — one that offers health, satisfaction, development, pride, and ultimately a life worthy of being a horse.
After almost 15 years with Manuel Jorge de Oliveira as my mentor and trainer, I can say with certainty that not only have the horses grown through this journey, but I have grown as a human being as well.
My Lusitano, Espanto, was trained together with me all the way to high school. We learned everything side by side, and today he is such a pleasure to ride that I often feel he can read my thoughts 😊
Over the years, I have seen countless horses struggle within the systems commonly taught in many stables today. And I have also seen many of those same horses flourish again through Manuel’s knowledge, understanding, and competence.
For a long time, my quiet dream has been to create a place where this knowledge is accessible to as many people as possible. That dream is now taking shape at the Vienna Stables at Teiritzhof. With great passion and the full support of my family, we are building a place for people who share the same goal — a place where horses truly come first.
