Pregnancy testing for Autumn calving is well underway! In the last fortnight our vets have tested just under 1100 head of cattle across the district🐄🐄
Dr. Anthony is in the lead having pregnancy tested 564 of those cows - more than half of them in just one day! 🏆👏 Dr. Erin and Dr. Liz are fighting it out for 2nd place with only 16 cows the difference between them. Good work team 💪

ChooChoo 🐑 came in for a visit because her owner noticed she seemed a bit sore on her feet.
Given they had travelled all the way from Kilmore, for peace of mind and for future reference, we took x-rays of all four legs (can we say WOW! Congratulations to Dr Erin for tipping a 100kg sheep 💪). Thankfully, no abnormalities or evidence of underlying bone or joint disease were found. Examination by Dr Liz and Dr Erin identified mild inflammation in one hoof which was likely the cause of her discomfort. We sent her owner home with advice on how to treat the condition using supplies they already had at home and we're happy to report that ChooChoo is now feeling much better! ❤️

Eddie the miracle dog — honestly, we can’t stop smiling. 🐾💛 After being hit by a car and losing use of his back legs, Eddie was referred for a CT at Advanced Vet Care. The good news? No permanent damage beyond a broken tail which would need surgery. Dr Erin performed a tail amputation surgery and with some TLC, Eddie is now back to his normal, mischievous self… tail included only in spirit! 🐶✨

⚠️Grass Tetany Awareness⚠️

We've recently seen an increase in grass tetany cases. Caused by a magnesium deficiency it can be fatal if not treated quickly, but with early intervention many cows recover well like this girl we treated yesterday! She was found down during a morning check of spring calvers that are due in one week. Dr. Niamh was quick to attend and treated her for grass tetany. 20 minutes later, the cow was back on her feet and enjoying some hay. Great work by all involved and a great outcome for this mum-to-be, we can’t wait to see her little calf! 🐄
We will create some helpful management strategies and let you know next week what you need to do to protect your cattle.
