We haven’t had a lot of availability this week. One of our groomers was in a bad car accident — thankfully she’s okay, but she’d taken the week off to recover from some painful bruising.

Everyone has pitched in to help, and we’ve managed to get all the pups looking pretty 🐶

The most important thing is that she’s alright. Her doctor has confirmed she can start grooming again from Monday, though she may need to take it slow at first.

We really appreciate your patience and understanding as we work through this unexpected turn.

When is the best time to introduce your puppy to grooming?

About two weeks after their second vaccination!

🩷 Why this timing matters:
Starting early helps your puppy see grooming as a normal part of life, not something scary or stressful. When introduced at a young age and maintained every 4–6 weeks, grooming becomes a routine your dog enjoys rather than fears.

🐾 It’s best for your dog:
Early exposure leads to fewer behavioural issues later on. Regular brushing and combing at home builds comfort and confidence.

✂️ It’s best for the groomer:
Meeting a confident 3–4 month old puppy is far easier than trying to groom a nervous, strong 6–12 month old dog who’s never been groomed before (especially true for large breeds or oodles!). Early visits help create positive first experiences in the salon.

🏡 It’s best for you, the owner:
A calm, cooperative dog means easier home maintenance, less fees in behaviour and matting, which leads to savings and a happier pet 💰

So do the right thing—
✨ Introduce your puppy to grooming early.
✨ Brush and comb daily.

We have found a couple dogs are coming in with paralysis ticks and it could end badly.
They are deadly.
------

Ticks are more than just a nuisance – they can spread dangerous diseases to your dog, such as tick paralysis, anaemia, and infections. These parasites often hide in hard-to-see areas like under the collar, between the toes, inside the ears, or around the tail.

🐾 Why Regular Grooming Matters:

✔️ Grooming appointments give us the chance to check your dog’s coat and skin closely.
✔️ Early detection means ticks can be removed before they cause serious harm.
✔️ Regular coat maintenance makes it harder for ticks to stay hidden.
✔️ Groomers can alert you to any unusual lumps, bumps, or parasites.

What you can do:
🐾Check your dog at home regularly, especially after walks.
🐾Keep up with preventative treatments.
🐾Book regular grooming sessions so your dog’s health and comfort are always a priority.

🌍 Sustainability Update 🌍

We’re always looking for ways to make our grooming services as sustainable as possible. Did you know pet hair can actually be recycled? 🐶 ✂️ 🐾

There’s an amazing company that collects hair and repurposes it for things like cleaning up oil spills and even creating fertilizer! Instead of throwing it away, your pet’s hair can help the planet. 🌱✨

To support this effort, we’re considering adding a small 95c Sustainable Waste Fee to all full grooms and de-shed services. 100% of this would go toward ensuring your pet’s hair is reused in ways that make a positive impact on the environment.

Happy 1 year anniversary Canine Clips By Jess. When I opened last year little did I know I was newly pregnant with little Oscar (now 3.5 months old).

Regular customers. Thank you for all your support, praise and good reviews during my first year of being open. I love how happy you all are when you pick up your furbabies and how super bouncy and affectionate they are too.
