K9 Farmday & Social Dog School Jennie, Stuart, Chloe and Jaice are Qualified, experienced Dog Trainers, including Behaviour modification training.

The dogs are supervised at all times, we encourage nice play, each day we do some confidence building, with an obstacle course, a trick room for some fun trick training, we also have horses, sheep, and chickens on the farm, we have a dam for swimming, 2 sandpits to dig and play zoomies in. We have 2 large undercover areas, with a large TV, and for story times, if it rains. We love to encoura

ge the dogs to communicate with each other, expressing themselves as dogs do, in a natural, safe, and fun farm environment. Some dogs will cover 50+ kilometres in a day! They always go home so content, extremely happy, and very tired!

A heartfelt goodbye to a special friend of ours, Opal the Border Collie 💖🤍🌈

To Opal’s family, you have our deepest condolences, we are thinking of you during this incredibly heartbreaking time.

Opal has been coming to doggy school and staying with our family dogs on her holidays for many years, she made each day special here at the farm.

The K9 team are absolutely shattered, we can only imagine, what her family are going through losing their beautiful best friend.

Opal has been more than just a client; she has been part of our K9 Country Farm Day family. She had a vibrant personality we all loved so much and we were blessed with her presence every Tuesday. Her favourite activities here included swimming in the dam, chasing the herding ball, frisbee catching and training, obstacle sessions with our staff.

Thank you for allowing us to be part of her life, she brought us so much joy and it’s been a privilege to care for her all these years.

A heartfelt goodbye to a special friend of ours, Planty the Weimaraner! 🤍🌈

To his family, you have our deepest condolences and we are thinking of you during this hard time. Planty was your furchild and we can only imagine what you are going through losing the most precious soul in your life. He was so lucky to have you.

For the past 2 or so years, Planty has been more than just a client; he has been part of our K9 Country Farm Day family. He had a quirky personality we all loved so much and his presence brightened our day.

Thank you for allowing us to be part of his life, he brought us so much joy and it’s been a privilege to care for him.

Having been a veterinarian for almost 3 decades, I have seen the tide of how animals are treated change drastically. When I graduated dogs were dogs, now dogs are considered to be higher ranking than people. In our crazy world, people love their dogs more than they love their own families and they treat their dogs better than they treat other humans and I am sorry to say that we are destroying our dogs mental health because of it.

It is increasingly common to go into an exam room and have a dog that is growling at me and trying to bite and the owner is petting it telling it that it is a good dog. It is NOT being a good dog and it should not be rewarded for growling and trying to bite. It is important that we train our dogs properly and we use right language with them. Never is it ok for a dog to growl and try and bite in an exam room where nothing horrible is happening to them and feeding into that behavior does not make it better for your dog, it trains them that their fear is a good thing and it is not.

Mental disorders are exponentially increasing in our dogs and it is us owners fault. Please stop treating your dog like it is some fragile child and start treating it like it is a dog. TRAIN them and teach them commands and correct them when they are wrong and stop thinking you are going to hurt their feelings if you do. Dogs are dogs, not small humans. They need training and proper instructions or it leads to horrible anxiety issues in them and I can assure that that behavior is going to hurt your feelings way more than being an adult and training your dog to be a good dog instead of a spoiled child.

The following are a few copied excerpts from an article that I read this morning from a dog trainer. I feel like there are a good reminder for all of us on exactly what are dogs are and what they need.

"Your dog is a dog, not a human child. Constant unearned affection is a killer and creates an unhealthy addiction for both dog and owner. Your dog will love you unconditionally but will never respect you unless you give it reason to.

The most basic of basics, your dog must learn how to be still in any situation. If your dog can’t be still around any distraction, you will never have control.

Sit
Down
Walk nicely on leash
Out, meaning release anything in your mouth

You MUST have a language dedicated to your dog that your dog can learn by you being consistent and applying meaning to the words you use. Your dog MUST know what yes means, but also MUST know what NO means. If nothing comes after those words, yes equals reward for good, no equals correction for bad, your dog will never give meaning to either. Your dog’s name is not a command, or correction. NO should not be your dog’s middle name.

The training starts the second you bring the dog home."

Happy 1st Birthday to lovely Luna the Golden Retriever 🩷🥳

Luna is having the best birthday playing the day away! She brought along a cake to celebrate & shared with her cousin Millie & the rest of her friends at school! 🎂

We’ve loved watching Miss Luna blossom & grow in this first year of her life, she has come so far with her training & has made plenty of best fur-friends for life! We are so happy to celebrate the first of many milestones with you Luna! 🐾😍🎉

Our story

Your dog will have more fun on their holiday than you will!! 12 hours in any of our 8 playgrounds, playing zoomies, swimming, frisbee, treasure hunts, and games of fetch all day, they are usually very tired after such big days running and playing, after dinner time, they go into the overnight rooms, for a much needed sleep with a buddy on one of the little car beds! 6.30am - 6.30pm Play time, we do encourage rest times during the day, there are plenty of quiet areas for a snooze, shady trees, cool bedrooms, or if they want to run, there are large 1acre enclosures. Fully supervised, Jennie is a Qualified Vet Nurse, and Qualified Dog Trainer/behaviourist with more than 15 years experience, Georgia is also a Qualified Dog Trainer with NDTF, we may often have a litter of puppies, or a few friendly foster dogs prior to finding their forever homes.
