Wooroolin Vet Services 🦮🐾🦜🐓🫏🐈🐑🐂🐄🐠🐴🐝🦆🐷🐭. We treat all animals! ✅
Large, small and everything in between 🙌 Wooroolin Veterinary Services opened in August 2010 by Steve Kelly.

Steve was a University of Queensland graduate and has worked in and owned various practices including time as a "flying vet" in the Kimberleys and Northern Territory, partnership in Redland Bay Vet Surgery and owned Esk Vet Surgery outright. Steve and his wife Wendy, moved to the South Burnett in 2004 and developed a Large Animal Veterinary Service based from his farm. This rapidly developed into

a full time business. In 2010, a shop came available on the highway at Wooroolin and it was decided to open a practice at the premises and return to some small animal work as well as continuing on with the large animal business already established. At that stage, Wendy became directly involved with the business by becoming the surgery nurse/receptionist/book keeper. Our business has been developed along the lines of the old style traditional rural veterinary practices where we have tended to keep things simple. We may not have the absolutely latest in equipment but have the infrastructure to handle 99% of cases with the option of referral to specialist practices for the remaining 1%. By doing this, we are able to keep our overheads to a reasonable level which also equates to being able to keep our fees at a reasonable level for our clients. Our small animal services include vaccinations, microchipping, x-raying, desexing, orthopaedic surgeries etc. Large animal services include ultrasound pregnancy testing and artifial insemenation in mares, semen collection and evaluation in bulls, various equine surgeries including rig castrations, herniae surgeries, check ligament desmotomy etc. An area of focus in the last 10 years has been equine dentistry with the use of a power float and mobile equine crush. An emergency after hours service is also supplied by ringing the surgery number ( 4164 2010 ).

🐶🐾WVS CANINE PATIENT OF THE MONTH 🐾🐶
💝Meet ‘Dixie’! 💝
This adorable and brave little pug presented for straining to urinate. The Xray highlights the collection of bladder stones that were making her so uncomfortable.
Thanks to Dr Pauline and Dr Tori she underwent surgery to have all the bladder stones removed.
She has quite the history and her amazing Owners have done an incredible job of taking care of all her needs including dietary control for urinary crystals and bladder stones in the past.
There are many reasons for bladder stone formation, and each case is unique! Dixie is certainly one of those unique cases -
We are so pleased she recovered so well and very excited for her to head home to her family for the weekend 💖🐾

👀Importance of EYES 👀
If you are worried about your livestock or pets having sore eyes - please contact the Clinic for advice as soon as possible.
Horses in particular are at risk of developing ‘complicated ulcers’.

Here are some signs to look out for:-
👁️Closed eye that is weeping
👁️ An eye that is painful to touch
👁️ Swelling of the eyelids/ region
👁️ Discolouration of the eye itself
👁️Changes in the pupil size
👁️ Squinting
👁️ Walking into things
👁️Also, keep an ‘eye’ on non-pigmented areas surrounding the eye and lids. If you notice raised spots on pink areas, get them checked out as they could be cancerous lesions.

⚠️Early intervention is essential for a better prognosis - in all species!

👀Take a ‘look’ at these photos we snapped from a few patients we have treated lately 👀

🔍Can you guess what’s happened to them?
