⚠️EMERGENCY FLOOD ALERT SOUTH BURNETT REGION ⚠️ Issued 7am Monday 9th March 2026. ***Please read and share to family and friends***
👉Very heavy rainfall between 200-350mm has been recorded across the South Burnett region in the past 24-48hrs (red circled area). It is still raining with further heavy rainfall forecast for today.
🔴MAJOR FLOODING is occurring with extremely fast rises being observed across many rivers and creeks.
🔴BOONDOOMA DAM is over 100% spilling and rapidly approaching minor flood levels. Boondooma Dam may reach MAJOR flood levels today given the amount of major flooding entering the dam.
🔴VERY DANGEROUS FLOODING is being observed in the Boyne River at Cooranga with levels 6.5M ABOVE major. The BOM river gauge may be at risk of failure due to these heights.
🔴MAJOR FLOODING is being observed in Boonara Creek at Ettiewyn, Stuart River at Proston, Boyne River at Carters, Cadarga Creek at Brovinia.
🔴Major flooding is likely in Barambah Creek in the coming hours.
🔴Significant rapid flooding is expected in the upper Burnett River system from later today and tomorrow.
🔴The main areas at risk are Kingaroy, Goomeri, Murgon, Wondai, Proston, Jandowae, Durong, Boondooma, Brovinia, Ban Ban, Gayndah, Cooranga, Boynewood and Eidsvold.
🔴SEEK HIGHER GROUND in these flood prone areas - water may rise well above normal levels rapidly.
🔴DO NOT TRAVEL in these areas unless it is absolutely essential.
🔴LISTEN to emergency services and local government advice.
