RIP - Crofter's Downs Flash Mac

On the 28th of December, 2025, Crofter's Downs Flash Mac, aka Mac/Macaroni was laid to rest.

My heart has been utterly shattered, not only for losing my dream of our future together, but losing my absolute heart horse.

He was so incredibly young and I am so grateful of the time I had with him. The accomplishments we achieved in such a short time together was amazing. His temperament was second to none and I had so much planned. He was truly such a beautiful horse.

Living on a farm, you know with life there is always loss. But it hits so much different when it is something you love so much.

Through all the pain, it makes me feel better knowing we did not give up. We tried absolutely everything and gave him the best chance to fight.

I am incredibly lucky and grateful for all the help from so many wonderful people and thank you to the 2 vets that came out that day.

Whilst we don't have any definitive answers on what happened, we have taken some samples to try and give more insight.

The saying is true. All the good horses go to heaven. Those who know him know how much he truly meant to me. I definitely tried very hard to keep it together that day.

He has certainly taken my spark him.

Colour and genetic tests were sent off and have now been finalised.

Colour: EE Aa W20/n (Bay with W20, can never produce a chestnut foal)

Genetic: PSSM1 negative.

On Saturday Crofter's Downs Flash Mac and I went to Northern Districts Hack & Dressage All Breed Spectacular 2025.

Macaroni achieved
🥇1st Clydesdale Stallion
🏆Champion Clydesdale

We made it to the Supreme of show class, however I pulled him from the competition. It was quite hot and he was just not having a good day. It was the best decision I made for him, especially as our breed class was early in the day and the supreme class was a couple hours later. Horse welfare over competing any day. At the end of the day, the horse doesn't care about ribbons.

Thankfully that was the last show for the year and he is having a well deserved rest.

New paddock whilst I fix the old one and give it a rest 🫡

They are certainly enjoying having some fresh pick again.

Our last show for the year is coming up. Better give the big guy a wash...it's been awhile. Hasn't even had a rug on since before the last show a couple months ago 😅

Today we celebrated Crofter's Downs Flash Mac 4th birthday 🎂 🥳

This boy is my absolute heart horse and has blossomed into a very handsome c**t, or should I now say, stallion!

He was presented with a Benchmark Horse Feeds mash cake, decorated with banana, carrot candles, a sprinkle of molasses and drizzled with Canterwell Bulk-x Performance Oil.
