Rod and Margaret Maruff purchased Homestead Kennels in 1977 and further their interest in dogs. Our first pure bred dogs were Boxers these doge were the start of Yarrawon Kennel prefix. Our once in a life time Rottweiller Max was to change our lives. By now Rod was hooked on training and went on to title a great many dogs. Training expanded to include Boarding and Training for our customers from b

asic to advanced obedience, problem dogs with aggression attitudes were commonly trained. Training included dogs for Television, Advertising, Retrieving Gun Dogs, Herding Tracking and Security Dogs. And dogs for Obedience Trials. For many years Rod was the chief training instructor for the Rottweiller Club of Victoria. And Vice President of Australian Association of Professional Dog Trainers for about 10 years. Vice President of Boarding Kennels Association of Victoria for about 20 years. We have owned many breeds including Boxers, Rottweillers, Dobermanns, German Shepherds, Weimaraners, Saint Bernards and Boston Terriers. And now Black Russian Terriers. Black Russian Terriers were first imported into Australia in 2001. This breed was specifically bred by Russian geneticists as a working dog capable of carrying out a wide range of duties similiar to those performed by Rottweilers and German Shepherds. This is a large dog with some males weighing 60kg or more. They are very affectionate towards their owners, love to be inside the house with you and make good watch dogs. They do not lose their hair. A Blackie must be trained. They enjoy working and require jobs to keep them mentally stimulated.

Vader before and after I groomed him at Yarrawon. Well done Ellen he was presented beautifully washed knot free. Wish all the dogs were like Vader. He has lost a bit of weight and is only 63 kg now.
