Amazing day yesterday at SA Rossfechten with Katherine Salazy Evans.
Crystanby Aqarian getting better about going out in mixed company all the time. ( 5 horses in arena and 2 were mares). Last clinic we did it was 2 days and it took him the whole first day to settle and get some calmer work the next day. This one only one day and under saddle I really could not fault him- except standing still is still a challenge. He still expends far to much energy in between riding when in the yard, and still does not like it when he can’t see me but early days.
For context Aqarian only began his ridden career just short of turning 11. He is 13 this year. It has not been consistent with some major bumps in the road that took a while to find the source. That is all sorted now and his confidence is coming back. And Mine. Before that he was a serving stallion - that was his job and now I am asking him to turn that off.
I think he is absolutely amazing.
We started with a refresher on foot sword lesson then we did the novice mounted sword. My first time riding with the fencing mask. I even got one sweet spot hit to Katherine’s face!
Then skill at arms in the afternoon. I have trained him on working equitation obstacles but I have never done skill at arms. LOVED IT.
