Dogs can't talk but they are great communicators. There's tonnes of mannerisms and body language they'll use to talk to you.

Take Boof here, a friendly Cane Corso waiting to be adopted.

We're pretty certain in the following photos:

1. Someone said they don't like big dogs. ** blows raspberry. 😋

2. He's looking and listening for instructions. "Let's play!" 🙂

3. "I love you!" 🥰

4. That's just a beautiful smile, something Boof does. He's a happy boy. 😀

Boof will make a wonderful addition to your home. He's great with people and dogs alike.

Visit Boof this weekend! More on Boof: https://buff.ly/boElK8W

Can you donate and inspire others to save thousands of animals at RSPCA ACT?

This coming October 2nd is our annual Give To Get Them Home fundraising event and we're trying to secure donations before the day to help create the 'matching' pot.

This will be the pool of funds we draw on to double all donations on the day, allowing animal lovers in the ACT to double their love, double their support and double their donation.

You'll be helping us launch our biggest fundraising event of the year.

To sign up and learn more (including the story of George, the pup in the picture, who was located in a bin with his umbilical chord still attached) follow the link: https://buff.ly/DyRrLRp

🦁...and then there were two!🦁

Just two of our Lion King litter of little rascals remain at our shelter, both are as cute as can be and it's their turn to find a home!

They're little packets of playfulness and while we've spent lots of time playing with them, they need a home to settle into to truly grow into the great pets we know they can be.

Of there's some wonderful older dogs you can meet at our shelter who desperately want to be adopted, drop by our shelter and meet them all!

Will Simba or Timon go home and become the king of your loungeroom?

We're open 10am-3pm for adoptions, Mon-Sat.

❤️ Meet Joshua!❤️

He's a sweetheart, as friendly as can be and just desperate to be adopted.

Our cattery refer to him as a Cuddle Monster and he truly is!

Joshua is a FIV* cat, meaning he needs to be either the only cat in the home or he can live very happily with other FIV cats. Don't let that deter you, this boy is about 5 years old and has a long and happy life ahead of him.

He's available to adopt right now at RSPCA ACT Weston, no appointment needed.

Sweet Kelsey just loves to run and play!

She’s five years old, a female Staffy and as good a companion as you'll find.

She’ll form a deep and loyal bond with her new adopter, which ideally is a person with experience with her breed.

She genuinely wants a quite little family of people for her own to love her and in return she’ll always be by your side.

Pay her a visit at RSPCA ACT, 12 Kirkpatrick St, Weston. 10am-3pm, Mon-Sat.

"We would like more people to realise that that adopting an adult rescue cat can be a wonderful experience for the humans and the cat."

That's a quote from Ivy's owners who adopted her in 2015.

A decade later, the love is still as strong as ever!

Ivy's owner tells us:

"At first she was nervous, and she hid when guests came over or the toaster popped. Now she is a comfortable mature cat, who enjoys snuggling with her humans, sunbaking in her bed by the window, pouncing on the leftover water in the bathtub and playing with her toys. She is a very loved member of our family."

We love this so much! Thank you to anyone who has adopted from us, you're brilliant people.❤️

We celebrate adoptions the way some people celebrate the birth of a child.

This week we're especially pleased and proud of the community we're a part of for caring so much.

All of our featured animals this week were 'locally/Facebook' famous and here's why:

Crunchie: amputee who you all pitched in to pay for her surgery. 💪
Indi: Had been here 11 months but finally, magic happens! 😍
Ziggy: Was adopted multiple times only to be returned. She's so sweet. ❤️
Athena: The 17 year old girl! 😻
Lebubu: Gave birth to pups who were all adopted. Now she's home too. 🥰
Penelope: The 15 year old Pet of the Week has a new home.🐾

Their backstories are all remarkable but you are the real heroes. Thanks Canberra. 💚

EOI: Do you have a suitable rural home for a young, friendly pig?

Sir Waffles was surrendered after his previous owner could no longer care for him. He is 9-10 months old and has lots of growing to do.

His perfect home should include a rural location with very secure & robust fencing.

You'll need a current PIC number (Property Identification Code)

He will also need a covered/shaded area to escape the weather should he choose to do so.

We'd dearly love to see him find the perfect home.
