Let’s talk oil

1. What’s the difference between linseed oil & flaxseed oil?
It’s the same product from the same part of the same plant—the seeds of Linum usitatissimum. The wordings came from the English language to maintain two words for the same plant, one from French/Latin (in this case "linen" and the “lin” in linseed) and another from Old English/Germanic languages (flax). Linseed oil is typically described as the product used for art and wood finishing, while flaxseed oil is commonly used for animal use.

2. Cold Pressed oil or Refined oil?
Cold pressed flaxseed oil is extracted from the seeds of Linum usitatissimum without using heat or chemicals. The process involves mechanically pressing the seeds to release the oil. Since no external heat is applied, the oil maintains its natural antioxidants, vitamins, and essential fatty acids.
Refined oil are produced by extracting oil from seeds, nuts, or fruits using heat and sometimes chemicals. The refining process typically includes steps like neutralizing, bleaching, and deodorizing, and using chemicals to remove impurities. which results in cleaner, more stable oil that can withstand high temperatures. These oils are often chosen for their longer shelf life, neutral flavour, and high smoke points.

3. Is Cold Pressed Flaxseed oil food grade?
Yes, Cold-pressed flaxseed oil is a great addition to smoothie recipes for a wholesome and nutrient-dense breakfast or in your salad. Omega-3 fatty acids, which are heart-friendly, are abundant in cold-pressed flaxseed oil.
4. Does it need to be in a dark container?
No, storing in a dark container is a myth, it can be stored in an opaque container. We choose to use a black container as the consensus by most people believe it needs to be in a dark container. Always store your oil out of direct sunlight.

5. What % omegas is in Cold Pressed Flaxseed oil?
It’s rich in omega 3, 6 & 9. The actual percentage can only be determined if each batch of oil is tested.

6. What is the shelf life?
Our Cold Pressed Flaxseed oil has a shelf life of 2yrs if sealed and stored appropriately. Once opened it is recommended to use within 12mths.

7. How much do I feed?
Horse Dosage:
The general guideline is 10ml per 100kg body weight per day.
For Performance/Endurance 150ml - 200ml per day.

Dog Dosage:
Suggested dose is 1ml per 2kg body weight per day.
