Brian was all geared up for his laser therapy session, rocking his stylish protective goggles like a true professional.
While he may look ready for a science experiment, laser therapy is a gentle, non invasive treatment that can help reduce pain, inflammation and support healing.

Celeste & Jake prefer treat stop ins at the clinic!

Acupuncture v Dry Needling, these two therapies are often confused, but they are not the same thing. Both use fine needles, however the training, philosophy and goals behind them can differ significantly.

Veterinary Acupuncture is a traditional medical therapy that has been used for thousands of years and is now widely integrated into modern veterinary medicine. It works by stimulating specific acupuncture points to influence the nervous system, circulation, pain pathways and the body’s own healing responses.

In pets, acupuncture may be used to support:
• Arthritis and mobility issues
• Chronic pain
• Neurological conditions
• Muscle tension
• Recovery after injury or surgery
• Senior pet comfort and quality of life

Veterinary acupuncture should only be performed by a qualified veterinarian who has undertaken additional certified training in veterinary acupuncture and understands both anatomy and medical disease processes in animals.

Dry Needling, on the other hand, focuses primarily on targeting tight muscles and trigger points. It is based more on western musculoskeletal techniques rather than Traditional Chinese Medicine principles. The aim is generally to release muscle tension, improve function and reduce local pain or spasms.

While dry needling can be useful in some rehabilitation settings, it is not the same as Chinese Veterinary Acupuncture, and the level of training and qualifications can vary greatly depending on who is performing it.

At Vetcall, our vets are qualified in Chinese Veterinary Acupuncture and integrate this alongside modern medicine, rehabilitation, pain management and holistic care plans. We believe therapies should never be “one size fits all”, the best outcomes often come from combining the right tools for the individual patient. 💛
