We have been very busy with lots of little projects lately and we wanted to share some them with you. Sometimes it’s the little changes that make all the difference to patient care and safety.

Welcome to Dr Leonardo Agostinelli. Dr. Leo, is a veterinarian with a strong background in equine reproduction and a current resident in theriogenology with the American College of Theriogenologists. He graduated as a veterinarian in Argentina, where he began his career working in studs and embryo transfer centers, both locally and in Qatar.

Leo later moved to Australia to join a major thoroughbred stud. He successfully passed the Australasian Veterinary Examination gaining licence in Australia in 2023. Alongside clinical work in New South Wales, he also worked from time to time as an official veterinarian for Racing NSW. Most recently, he completed a busy reproductive season in the UK, gaining additional hands-on experience in equine reproduction.

His main professional interests lie in reproductive surgery and biotechnologies. He also holds an FEI Permitted Treating Veterinarian license, supporting occasional involvement in sport horse medicine.

Outside of work, Leo enjoys outdoor activities, especially spending time at the beach and enjoying nature.

Last week we farewelled Dr Kate Kiely. After 4 years of dedicated care for the horses of the Peel and Murray region Kate had decided to have a change of career. We wish Kate all the best on her new adventures and cannot thank her enough for her dedication to the profession and all the care she has given each and every single horse that she has treated. Kate will be very much missed by everyone 💕

Did you know we offer a foaling down service?
With veterinarians and assistants on site 24 hours a day 7 days a week we are able to constantly monitor your mare during her foaling period. Each mare is monitored constantly using vaginal foaling alarms and regular milk calcium testing. The mares are checked multiple times during the day and night by our vet and nursing team and housed in individual grassed paddocks fenced with safe mesh. We only ever book 6 mares at one time, so if you are considering having the team at Murray vets foal down your mare book in early to avoid missing out.

Congratulations 🥳 to our talented Dr Hayley who has just passed her exams to become a member of the Australian and New Zealand college of veterinary Scientists in General Practice (Equine). Hayley is also away this week attending the Bain Fallon conference covering topics on reproduction, dentistry and cardiology. Dr Hayley’s passion for continuing education means she brings the best of care to all of her patients. Well done Hayley we are so proud of you 👏👏👏🥰 # murrayvets

Introducing Justin our new graduate vet. Originally from Hong Kong Justin graduated from Murdoch University in 2024 with a bachelor of science and a Doctor of Veterinary medicine. Justin joined the team at Murray Veterinary services at the beginning of 2025 as an Associate Veterinarian. Justin has a keen interest in equine medicine, ambulatory care, and anesthesia. At the end of university Justin chose to pursue equine practice due to his passion for equine care and welfare, as well as his love for the outdoors. During his training, Justin gained valuable experience at several specialist equine hospitals in Eastern Australia, including Scone Equine Hospital, WestVETS, and Randwick Equine Centre. We are really excited to have Justin on our team with all his up to date equine veterinary knowledge.

Celebrating world veterinary day. This years theme is “it takes a team” and at Murray Vets we are so grateful to have such an amazing team. Today we celebrate our Stablehand’s, our night shift team, our nurses, our admin team, our vets and our specialists because each and every one of them are an important link in providing the very best in equine care.
