A great week for Dr Jada advancing her skills in equine dentistry. 🐴🦷 Dr Jada attened the EVDS dental course focusing on advanced dental assessments and treatment techniques in horses. Continuing education is crucial to veterinary work. Equine dentistry is constantly evolving and this course provides the opportunity to refine practical skills and stay up to date with current approaches to equine dentistry. With dental health being such an important part of equine care all of our veterinarians undergo advanced equine training to ensure we provide out patients with the highest level of dental care

We are excited to welcome Dr Lorin Ascoli to the Murray Vets team. Lorin was born and bred in the Northern Territory and grew up there until making the move to Townsville, North QLD where she acquired her bachelor degree in Veterinary Science from James Cook University in 2017. Lorin has slowly moved further south, having spent the first 6 years of her career in sole equine practice in the Hunter Valley, NSW. Most recently, Lorin worked in a mixed practice clinic in rural NSW, gaining exposure to a variety of different species and cases. prior to moving to Western Australia.

Lorin has a keen interest in all aspects of equine veterinary care, but particularly medicine, ophthalmology, diagnostic imaging and general practice.

Outside work, Lorin spends her time chauffeuring her labrador, Abram, to various dog beaches and hiking locations, reading or gardening.

✨ All of the horses we are privileged to help are special but every now and then, we meet a patient who truly feels like a unicorn… and Taffy is one of them. 🦄💛
Taffy came to Murray Veterinary Services with severe colic and required urgent, life-saving surgery to remove an obstruction. Thanks to the dedication of our team and her incredible strength, Taffy spent 10 days in hospital recovering before finally heading home where she belongs. 🏡
We are so proud to have played a part in saving such a special girl. Taffy isn’t just any horse—she’s a beloved therapy horse who brings comfort, joy, and connection to so many people in her community. 💕
Moments like these remind us why we do what we do.

Last weekend Dr Barry Van Vlierbergen attended the International Society of Equine Locomotor Pathology (ISELP) Pastern & Foot course in Sydney.

The ISELP program is internationally respected for its advanced training in equine lameness and diagnostic imaging, particularly ultrasound. By working toward becoming an ISELP-certified equine veterinarian, Dr Barry is pursuing a high standard of expertise in diagnosing and managing complex locomotor issues in horses.

This is a significant professional milestone and will be of great benefit to the horses and clients Dr Barry supports. Dr Barry also cought up with another great WA vet on the course oldburyequinevet can you spot them in the crowd! 😆
