"Perhapsss if I lay as flat as possible, they won't notice me."

A callout yesterday for this young chap, a Murray Darling Carpet Python, who had taken up residence in a tricker than it looks spot in the chook shed!

A healthy young specimen, he was released nearby without issue. While we do have colder nights, it's not unusual to still find reptiles in warmer places during the nicer days that we are having.

Included is a photo for a game of Spot the Snake, enjoy!

Just how well can a snake hide? We'll see for yourself.

This young Blue Belly Black (Spotted black snake for those further up north) was intercepted by a dog and escaped into a nearby pipe in Wellington this evening.

Fortunately, it appears that no one was injured and everyone can go their separate ways.

"Hmm, let me check this side before I decide to leave."

This young Eastern Brown (Pseudonaja textilis), world's number two for venomous land snake, found himself a new home today after being retrieved from a house in Wellington.

He'll be much happier elsewhere, away from people.

What is the most important part of my kit?
Is it the bag? It contains the snake safely and securely.
Is it the hook? I use it for snakes that cannot be handled by hand (looking at you death adders! And today's juvenile Eastern Brown)
The clamp? Used to tie off the bag once it contains the snake.
Or is it the bandage? The thing that can keep me alive if I'm not quick enough.

All are very important. Thankfully, bandages are available to everyone and I highly recommend that you have one on hand. They can be picked up from pharmacies or contained in purpose made snake bite kits.

(In my opinion, it's the bandage.)

The employee of the month thoroughly enjoyed his paid holiday! He was a little confused by the fish but thrilled by the Grassland Earless Dragon (fascinating little guys, critically endangered sadly, found around Canberra)
We are now back online for your catching and relocation needs.

Starting Sunday, I'm out of action for a week. Snakes and lizards don't care for my schedule though! Thankfully there is a catcher in Dubbo, Orange and worst case Bathurst, who maybe able to lend you assistance in that time.
They are;
Mr Kyle Lundholm, Outwest Snakes, Dubbo, 0447986352

Mr Jake Hansen, Orange Snake Service, Orange, 0414945124

Ms Stefanie Lesser and her team, Wild Woofers, Bathurst, 0477997361

All of these people are skilled and very good at what they do! I hope you all have an amazing week!

"Oh, People. I know, I'll hide behind this branch until they leave. Hmm not working, better head over there when they're not looking."

Attended a bit of a different release today. This fine example of an Murray Darling Python got caught up in some shenanigans a few towns over! Found inside a vehicle originating from the Dubbo area. He was transported back to his home, once it was identified, and with a local landowners permission, released back into the wild after a few days R and R from his unexpected travel.

Check out Wild Woofers Snake Catching, Pet Sitting and Dog Walking for a video of the release!

Clearly the camera man needs to work on their angles!

A night callout for this fine specimen of a Blue Belly Black.
Often confused for their more well known cousin, the red bellied black snake, these guys lack the red and one of them, I won't say which to encourage some research amongst you, laya eggs, the other gives birth!
Regardless, highly venomous, don't touch. Admire from a distance.

When in Rome.

I was in the area when Wild Woofers Snake Catching, Pet Sitting and Dog Walking caught this adorable young specimen (the snake, not me!).

As I hadn't experienced handling a Copperhead before, I jump at the opportunity to aid in his release.
Thank you Wild Woofers Snake Catching, Pet Sitting and Dog Walking for the opportunity. Hopefully I can return the favour with a snake from my area that's not found in yours!

Happy Australia day. I hope everyone has remained safe with the festivities.

A callout this afternoon for an elusive Eastern Brown that was observed on Whitely St last night. Unfortunately I was unavailable at the time to lend assistance. If you're around Whitely St, do keep your eyes open.
