Scary Noises at Bad Times

We try our hardest to prepare our dogs for all experiences they may find difficult, but no matter how hard we try, life throws unexpected curve balls. Take tonight for example. I am currently experiencing extreme winds tonight. I have given Indigo positive experiences with heavy winds and thunder prior to this moment but for whatever reason tonight's bad weather spooked her, as you can see in the photo. The catch: its nearly midnight and everyone is in bed asleep or heading in that direction. I don't have any food or toys. Nothing to help build a positive association. It's important in thesea situations to not panic. Stay calm and try to get a stradegy in place as soon as you can. I chose to take advantage of the fact that I had two dogs next to her who were happily counting sheep (or chasing them? That seems more accuarte for a doggie dream). I was on my laptop and pretended to read something while keeping an eye on her. Seeing that the noise wasn't a big deal, she went back to sleep. When she woke up again, more adament that something sinister was outside, I moved her closer to make and gave her a massage of sorts with long soothing strokes down her back. Now, the wind is still roaring and I have three happy, sleeping puppies, who I will now join ❤

We are pleased to announce the newest addition to Marvel Dogs. Meet Avondale Katniss Indigo. Phew that’s a mouthful! Let’s just stick to Indigo 😉 We have had her for a few weeks, working on getting her settled, building a relationship and earning her trust. Now we are ready to share our process with all of you! We will be showing all of you what we are working on, like how we approach socialization, engagement training and making training fun for Indigo.
