In a horse’s eyes, there’s a whole world. No words, no demands, no conditions. Just trust.

They don’t follow those who are stronger.
They follow those who are genuine —
those with calm voices, steady hands, and kind hearts.

To be the person your horse will follow anywhere…
It’s not about control.
It’s about connection.
It’s about the silence between hoofbeats.
It’s about the language heard not with ears — but with the soul.

Every day with a horse reminds us:
be trustworthy.
be gentle, yet grounded.
be the one they choose — again and again.

🌸 Welcome Djilba – the First Spring 🌿
Djilba marks a time of transition, with clear, cold nights giving way to warmer, windy, and rainy days. In Noongar culture, the colour pink represents this season — a symbol of new life and the blooming of wildflowers and plants across the land.

Here in Waroona, we’re lucky to witness bushland bursting to life with blue lace flowers, vibrant red and green kangaroo paws, and carpets of tiny, colourful orchids. 🌺🪻🌼

The Peel region is botanically rich and culturally unique — and there’s no better way to experience it than on foot. 🌾👣

🗺️ Top wildflower walks near Waroona:
🌿 The Heathland Walk – Yalgorup National Park
🌿 Lake Preston Trail – coastal wildflowers galore
🌿 Noisy Scrub Bird Trail – habitat of a rare songbird
🌿 Railside Park – wildflower gardens in town
🌿 Lane Poole Reserve & Nanga – forest blooms along the river
🌿 Waroona Dam bush trails – inland bursts of orchids & colour

Grab your walking shoes, your camera, and maybe even a wildflower ID book — it’s time to explore! 📷🌼

This month the United Nations adopted a resolution to declare July 11, 2025, the first-ever World Horse Day.

The resolution calls on governments, schools, businesses and individuals to celebrate the role of horses - and to tackle the challenges they face in the modern world.

From ancient battlefields to modern therapeutic programs, horses have been by humanity’s side for millennia.

At EATA we honour horses and respect their role as highly intelligent, intuitive and social animals.

Formal recognition of the significant role horses have played throughout history, and in everyday life, is an important step forward in raising further awareness about these remarkable animals.

An excellent article about how horses have contributed to human progress can be found on the UN page here: https://www.un.org/en/observances/horse-day

The glimmers we get on a cold raining day 🎊🎊. how beautiful is this view ?? Seriously pinch myself seeing the beauty around me everyday. Yes there is our unicorn Vinnie in the paddock at the end of the rainbow 🥰🥰🥰. So gorgeous

Moments like this remind us that joy doesn’t need explaining. It’s felt. Shared. So simple. So full.

❤️ FAREWELL TO THE OLDEST RACEHORSE IN THE WORLD: The horse New Years Eve (by Night Conquistador), said to be the oldest living Thoroughbred in America, has passed away at the age of 39. His longtime owner, Julie Izzo, who cared for the gelding nicknamed ‘Axl’ for over 32 years, announced that he peacefully ended his life on May 13, 2025.

In her statement, she wrote: “I will always be grateful for our many years together. A piece of me will always be missing. He wasn’t an extraordinary racehorse. But he was extraordinary to me.”

Axl is believed to be the second oldest American Thoroughbred ever recorded, passing away at 39 years and 57 days old. The oldest known American Thoroughbred in history, a gelding named Dead Solid Perfect, died in 2022 at 39 years and 188 days.

Born the same year as legends Sunday Silence and Easy Goer, Axl raced only 18 times before retiring and eventually going to live with Julie, where he found his place by her side.
