Seasonal Spotlight 📣📢
Sweet Corn 🌽 🌽 🌽
Whilst the Queensland corn season is supplying the Victorian market, NSW is still enjoying local ones from Bargo, south of Sydney.
A dollar a cob 🌽👍😁
At that price, the sweet corn will be moving faster than you can shuck it.

Radish 🫜 🫜 🫜
Grown by George Portelli in Maroota, these red radishes are a bit oddly shaped - but taste great.

Did you know you can eat the leaves? 🤔
They taste a little peppery, just like rocket or arugula or mustard greens.
Vitamin C and Vitamin K, Magnesium, Iron, calcium, folic acid, and dietary fibre.

Field Tomatoes 🍅 🍅🍅
Tomatoes are arriving at the markets by the trailer load and cheaper than most canned tomatoes 🍅 👍😁

Did you know that Jerusalem artichokes are a superfood 🤔
It's one of the richest natural sources of inulin fibre, to help you balance your microbiome.
It is also low GI to help reduce blood sugar spikes.
A rich source of potassium, and one of the highest plant-based sources of iron.
Also a total misnomer: it is not from Jerusalem nor is it an artichoke 🤷🏼‍♀️

It's in fact related to sunflower, which is why they're also known as sunchoke ✨🌻✨

Best way to cook them 👇
Wash and scrub them with a brush (don't peel), pan-fry in butter and/or olive oil with some garlic and sage for about 10 mins, and then finish in a 180° oven for another 25-30 mins.
Serve as a potato substitute.

Kumquat 🍊🍊🍊
Did you know that kumquats are the only citrus fruit eaten entirely, skin and all 🍊🤯
These olive-sized fruits pack a unique punch 🥊
The bright peel is sweet and aromatic, while the juicy inner flesh is incredibly sour 😜
Biting into one creates a famous "sweet-meets-sour" flavour explosion 🍊💣

For more information and recipes, read our article on eating seasonally in comments 👇

Caulini Flowers 💮
Caulini flowers are related to cauliflowers, but sweeter and more tender 👍😁
In fact, you can eat it raw, in a salad or for the lunch box. Supplied as 400g serve.
Grown by Charlie Vella in Freemans Reach.
Just $2.79 a bunch for around 300-400g

Other seasonal beauties 👇
Celeriac from Steve Grima
Baby eggplant from Charlie Vella and a late flush of asparagus from Victoria 🍆

We're bringing back 1999 prices to make a point.
Fresh produce isn't expensive.
It only looks expensive when retailers choose not to pass savings on 🤔

Produce markets regularly experience gluts when favourable growing conditions create abundant supply.
Faced with oversupply, growers can either plough crops back into the ground or sell them cheaply.

At Box Divvy, when farmers drop their prices, we pass those savings directly to members 👭👫👭👫👭👫👭👫👭👫👭👫

There's another side to the story. In some cases, farmers are receiving the same price for their produce today as they did 27 years ago, despite massive increases in diesel, fertiliser and labour costs 👩🏼‍🌾🚜🧺

This week's Rollback to 1999
On 4th August of that year, Woolworths advertised Honey Murcott Mandarins for $2.49 a kilo.
Nearly 27 years later, we are price matching ✨💰👍😁✨

These early season Murcotts are almost seedless 🍊🍊🍊
$2.49/kg.
In 2026
For real 👍😁

19/06/2026

Box Divvy has been using the green dollar sign to indicate good value products but over time, this has lost its effectiveness because it relied quite heavily on seasonal comparisons.

But seasonality these days is all over the shop. Unseasonal weather means sometimes a delay in planting, and at other times an extension of the growing season by several weeks.
Climate change will continue to drive this volatility.

So we’ve re-jigged, and simplified, the algorithm. If you see the green dollar sign, this now means that the product is at least 10% cheaper than the average price over the prior 12 weeks.

We hope this will help you with making better choices, but if you have suggestions for improvement, for example reduce the base period to just the last 4 or 6 weeks, let us know!

Why do some foods taste incredible at certain times of the year, or only available at certain times in the year?
🍠🫚🥦🍋🍊
This week, we explore why seasonal eating is the secret to better flavour, better value and better nutrition, while introducing three quirky seasonal stars 👇 Jerusalem artichokes, Caulini Flower and Kumquats.

Plus discover simple recipes and a delicious salad that brings all three together in one surprisingly perfect dish 👍😁

💚Wednesday Hub Kindness Box 💚
✨🎁✨
This week our Kindness Box reminds us just how much a caring community can mean during life's most difficult moments 👭👫👭👫👭👫👭👫

One of our members shared these beautiful words:

*"I want to thank each and every one of you who donated to the Kindness Box this week. We laid our 16-year-old boy to rest yesterday and this has helped immensely"* 🥰

To everyone who contributed from their own orders, thank you. Your generosity, kindness and thoughtfulness reached a family when they needed it most.
✨🫂✨
Sometimes a box of fresh food is more than just food. It's comfort, support, and a reminder that people care 👭👫👭👫👭

The Kindness Box continues to make a difference because of the incredible hearts within our Wednesday Hub community. Thank you for helping us wrap a family in kindness during such a heartbreaking time ✨💚✨
